This will probably be 5 stars by 2014 when major fixups are done. You can do tours most of the time but in 2013 realize there is a lot of construction going on: Mayo Clinic picked up ownership from the local Historical Society and is investing a lot of money to fix up major problems in the roof, footings etc. The mansion that one of the original founding Mayo doctors built was too important to let go. This is NOT a super elegant mansion like some of the NY or RI oil & steel barons built so view it in more of a historical aspect if you are staying in Rochester for days of Clinic appointments. In November you will have a special treat as many local groups decorate the rooms with a holiday flare, especially worth a visit then!
