“Have been staying here for years”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I and our 2 small dogs have been staying here for about 7 years when we are in town for Mayo. Property is in a great location, lots of green space and ideal for small pets. Fairly consistent for a Comfort Inn that is pet friendly and offers a very reasonable Mayo rate about $84/ night including tax. Great pool area and as previously stated hot tub is only luke warm. Plenty of free parking and a few fast food restaurants within about a block. As usual I enjoy a walk and this is a safe, quiet area to enjoy. All rooms have a hair dryer, small fridge, coffee pot and micro. Free coffee in lobby 24 hrs. Breakfast pretty standard. Negatives: We rented two rooms one pet, one non-pet. In the past you wouldnt know pets ever stayed in the rooms. This time we knew. Room smelled pretty bad, like wet dog and wasnt near as clean as the non-pet room. I thought they had a size restriction but saw large dogs, over 70lbs, on the property. The 2am clerk was rude when we checked in. Overall its not what it use to be but still a good value for the buck.

The guest rooms are nice with a fridge and microwave. The pool area is exceptional, but the hot tub was luke warm. My main concern...STAFF...wow! We had the rudest breakfast attendant that I have ever met at a hotel. She was out right RUDE to the guests and us! Garbage was over flowing in every area...at the front entrance and breakfast areas. I would of given this hotel a higher rating but staff can make all the difference. When checking out of the hotel, your last experience or encounter a lot of times is with the breakfast attendant, it left a very sour impression with us.

We spent 5 nights while visiting Mayo Clinic. Beds and the bedding were very nice; but we could have enjoyed another chair besides the desk chair. The day we had a winter storm of 15 inches of snow the staff, who could make it in, worked until 7:00 p.m. to get all the rooms refreshed. The host, Dale, at breakfast each morning MAKES your waffles for you, if you want. A cheerful and delightful man. Breakfast was hot with scrambled eggs and either bacon or sausage each morning. Coffee bar is open all day. My husband says "skip the biscuits and gravy" though. We had a dog and they were accomodating about when they cleaned our room. And in the end we left without one item. We called and the receptionist walked to our room while on the phone to make sure she picked up the item. We asked to have it sent COD, but they mailed it at their expense. We were impressed.

Very good in all respects as you might expect in a Comfort Inn. However, the desk service was poor and showed no inclination to be helpful. Though a pet -friendly facility, the manager became officious when we took our dog out the front door to walk him. Also a bit far out of downtown.

When we travel to see our daughter in the Rochester area, this is the place we always stay. The rooms are very clean, staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the grandchildren love the pool. Although not in downtown Rochester, there is very easy access and it is part of the Rochester Transit System with regular stops. Enjoy!

We have stayed at many Comfort Inn's and this was the best ever. The staff was super helpful, we were given a free upgrade to a whirlpool suite, the breakfast was good and the hot tub/pool area was oustanding. They have extended pool hours and a huge hot tub, plus the pool was a comfortable temperature. We will definitely make this our temporary home next time we are in the Rochester area.

This used to be an Americinn so we opted to stay because we had been to this property previously and I like Choice Hotels and their free nights programs. However, this particular hotel has a few missing links that could easily be remedied.

Upon checking in, nobody was at the front desk. There was no bell ringer to alert the clerk either. We waited between 5 and 10 minutes which is a long time to leave the front desk empty. When the clerk arrived she offered no apology for making us wait. Then, we were overcharged and only realized it when and the clerk came to our room with the difference in change.

The breakfast had much to offer, however, the waffle maker's timer did not work. I had to guess the amount of time and even though I sprayed the unit with a non-stick spray, the waffle stuck so badly it was non-edible. The host working in the area was a kind man and did his best to make me fell okay about it. I opted for the cereal instead.

The area received about six inches of snow overnight. In spite of us not checking out until after 10 a.m., nobody took time to shovel the sidewalks. Addditionally, the parking lot only had a path made where there were no cars.

The room was fine with no problems and the other items mentioned may seem like little things, but they all add up to annoyances that would make me look elsewhere next time I visit Rochester.

  • Liked — Comfortable beds, clean room
  • Disliked — check-in, snow-covered sidewalks (slippery)
