“Great Place”

Stayed here on our first visit to Mayo's. Could not have picked a better value !! We were directly attached to everything we needed, which was great during the blizzard that occurred. Room service from a local cafe was wonderful, as was the breakfast served right in the lobby. The staff was VERY helpful, especially the shuttle drivers. Do not hesitate to stay at this great hotel.

This is a good hotel and the staff is very courteous. They have a shuttle to the local malls. They have wireless internet in the rooms and 24hr access to the fax, printing and computer facility. No charge for printing, copying documents. They also have a small pool and hot tub. The gym is small but sufficient. House keeping and room service can be better but you can always buy frozen food, drinks from a pantry on the 1st floor. Breakfast is very reasonable. A skyway connects this hotel (and many others) to a central shopping area, restaurant, the mayo clinic civic center and other buildings.

We visit Rochester every year. When we visit we have our short list of preferred hotels, and the Hilton Garden Inn tops them all.

It's a quiet place to stay that has almost everything you would need.

The rooms are always clean and well maintained. One year we had a problem with the A/C where it leaked water onto the floor. House keeping came to clean it up but due to our little puppy that was with us they didn't, after talking with them further we made arrangements for him to be in the bathroom while they came to clean the wet floor so that he wouldn't be scared of the vacuum sounds while being in his kennel, in a strange room.

Staff has always been very nice and service oriented. Last year when we stayed check-in took less than 5 minutes. and that included the time it took for me to walk from the car.

I'll be back to this hotel in a week and I can't wait, not just because of the hotel, but because Rochester is always a very welcoming city to visit.

    • Disliked — small parking lot, no room service, and it may fill up early.

“Nice Place”

I stayed at the Hilton on two occasions while going to Mayo's for medical reasons. Both times the staff was extremely nice and accommodating. Since I was alone and a stranger to the area this was important. They gave me rides to the mall and back for free and airport so I could rent a car for the weekend, and were generally helpful. As for the rooms they are nice but not fancy...The bed was very comfortable but the heating/air system is older and noisy. It was easy to find my way around and I used both the skyway and walked outside to Mayo's. All in all I would stay there again although it is pretty expensive for what you get. They have a little business center with two computers you can use for free and a washer and dryer. The breakfast is really nice. They will let you buy things separately for a reasonable price if you don't want the whole meal. Coffee is always available in the lobby and they have a coffee pot in the room, USA today is delivered to the room...They have a small pantry where you can buy some frozen dinners to use in the microwave and other things to eat. This is nice as eating out three times a day gets old and sometimes you just want a snack. I found the refrig and microwave a nice extra as I could bring things back to the room and keep cold for a later snack. The place is busy and stays pretty full but wasn't too noisy. I asked for a room away from the elevator and ice machine and got that. It's a great location if you are going to the clinic. It is also a safe enviroment. I'm in my 60's and never felt uncomfortable.

“Great Hotel/Very Convenient”

Hilton Garden Inn Rochester Downtown

Apr 3, 2007

My wife and I recently stayed at this property for a Friday night getaway. The room was very nice, and included a new "air beds", a microwave and refrigerator, very fast high speed internet, a comfortable and useful oversized desk and chair, and full cable television. The front desk staff was very friendly and professional, including phoning to verify that we had actually asked for dinner delivery (this is good practice that I wish more hotels would follow). They also seemed to go out of their way to make their guests' stay enjoyable. A big plus about this hotel is that it is connected to the skyway/subway system in downtown Rochester, which is great in inclement weather. Restaurants, stores, and the Mayo Clinic are easily accessible, and the hotel furnishes a map of the skyway/subway system upon request. The hotel appears to be rather new (within the last 5 years), and the furnishings don't seem to have suffered from abuse or neglect. The breakfast was massive and diverse, including three different options for hot dishes, as well as tons of fruit, breads, and juices.

However, there are some drawbacks. First of all, there is a $10 per night parking charge, and the parking lot at the hotel is rather small. Even though additional parking is available a block away in a parking garage, this is quite inconvenient. I would think that when the hotel was full, this would present quite a problem. Also, the hotel is located on a busy city thoroughfare, and the noise was a bit of an issue. While the traffic certainly calmed down during the night, it was rather annoying to listen to vehicles starting and stopping in the "echo chamber" that is downtown. Perhaps some more soundproofing would help in this area.

The hotel pool and exercise room were very nice, although I was puzzled by the fact that they closed down at 10:00 PM. That seems rather early, especially on weekends.

The convenience store connected to the hotel was very well-stocked, including frozen dinners and bottled water and soda. The prices seemed reasonable, considering the fact that hotels usually charge exorbitant rates for goods sold in their facility.

Overall, a great hotel, in a great location, and the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. When we're in Rochester next time, we will definitely stay there again.
