“First Class Accomodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Everything is pretty First Class in the rooms. Nice fabric, furniture, comfortable beds, plush towels, coffee pots with ceramic mugs, actual glassware (not plastic) triple sheet beds, flat panel lcd, encore movie channels, on demand tv. Beautiful bathroom tiles and marble sinks. Nice large workdesk, pretty views of golf course. Nice heated pool (the best time to swim is between noon and 3pm, or 10-11pm is adult time. Large hot tub, beautiful Spa: massages are a little spendy, but when you can drop that much gambling in 10 minutes, its all relative. For Spa Clients, they have 7-Head Showers(glorious) and beautiful first class locker room with every amenity you could want. This is a smoking hotel and casino. If you do not smoke or cannot stand the smell of smoke, you probably shouldn't go to the casino. They also have more than usual restaurant choices. The Steakhouse is closed Monday and (Tues?) the Cafe is great, the Buffet is pretty standard, plus there is also a Food Court that has 4 different food stands. This is an alcohol-free casino, but that doesn't seem to affect the attendance levels. Gaming floor is ginormous and lots of variety. This is a great get-away for locals, and definately higher class than most hotels in the southern Twin Cities suburbs. Takes about a half hour to arrive from the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the Golf Course side

Not that I need to drink, but when you offer a Hotel resort to include gambling and smoking anywhere in the Casino, why would you not allow alcohol anywhere in and on the premises. Seems like an Oxymoron. As you check into the hotel, none says that its alcohol free. When you go past security to the elevators, if you have a cooler or thermos bag of any sort, you are checked.
They do not allow any booze anywhere in the hotel or casino. The restaurants are plentiful, but again no wine with dinner or a cocktail at the bar. There is no bar!
They are so strict about this; they tell you over the phone from your room that you will be asked to leave the hotel if they find any liquor whatsoever, no exceptions.
The hotel is very well laid out with a modern style Casino. The staff is very helpful in and around the premises. The rooms are in need of a makeover and the beds have plastic or rubber undercover in case you…well you know what I mean.
The rooms are not quiet and somewhat noisy near the generators fans by the end of the hall. Any parties going on are quite noisy if it is next to your room. The acoustics are not favorable. The food by the way is good, but I do miss my glass or bottle of wine with dinner. After the second night I ended up going to Arizona’s Restaurant down the street. The hotel was nice enough to shuttle me there. Yes, I had wine with dinner.

Room Tip: don;t sneak in any booze! Demand a quiet room in the middle facign the Golf Course.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your recent stay at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. Adding alcohol service is the single most frequent request we’ve heard from our guests over the last 20 years. We’ve studied the idea for several years by looking at what other casinos and resorts have done in this area and collected best practices for the safe and responsible service of alcohol. We are currently in the formal process of securing appropriate licensing. Stay tuned: we’ll be sure to update you here and on mysticlake.com when we have more specific timelines.

We checked in and requested a non-smoking room. Got to the room and it reeked of smoke and had ash trays on the table. Called the front desk to complain and they responded "...the room alternates being a smoking and non-smoking room." Come on, there's no such thing as a non-smoking swing room! They gave us another room that had a non-smoking sign on the exterior door. The room was clean, but every spring in the bed was broken. I didn't want to complain again, so we put up with it. But, I will never stay in this hotel again.

The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable, and they have flat screen tvs and free wi-fi. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby area is terrific, with a snack bar and a fireplace. There's a small museum room near the check-in counter, as well as a nice gift shop. We always enjoy having breakfast at the Minnehaha Cafe. This is a terrific place to stay if you're visiting Minneapolis/St. Paul for business or pleasure.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a room with a king bed. The room was good sized, clean, well maintained, and very confortable. We did sleep well. There is 24 hour security to enter the room elevators. The only problem we had was settng the air conditioner - at 70 it was very hot but at 60 it was very cold. For some reason 65 didn't seem right, either.

The hotel is well run, we had no real problems. It is out a ways, not a convenient location if you are going to be going to Minneapolis and especially St. Paul a lot, or to the north or east parts of the Twin Cities.

Breakfast was not included but there is a good restaurant with very good food which wasn't very expensive.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked a golf course.

The price was only $71 per night which was an amazing value. The hotel was very clean, comfortable room, nice lobby, good selection of restaurants. I will definitely be back. THe only complaint I have is that the entire place was FREEZING!! I was there in August when it was over 90 degrees outside so didn't think to pack a sweater, which I actually needed in the hotel! My daughters and I were freezing in tank tops and shorts.

We celebrated my wife's birthday and our anniversary. We also attended two baseball games at Target Field. Our room on the 7th floor overlooked the golf course. The room was beautiful. Can't remember having 6 pillows before and plenty of towels. The mattress was so comfortable I would love to have one at home. We ate a delicious lunch at the Grille the first day and ate at the buffet the second day which was also very good. We loved the croissants and coffee for breakfast. The host at the Grille gave us good directions to get to Target Field--better than the ones we got from MapQuest. We chose to stay here because of the cost and we both like to play the games. My wife was like a kid in a candy store looking for a slot she wanted to play. The casino is very spacious. We didn't mind that the casino is dry.
Staff very courteous, valet parking very convenient since the parking lot is a little walk from the hotel. We plan on staying here next summer when our White Sox are in town.
The only negative comment is that even though there was an employee standing outside, he did not open the door for my wife who was carrying in our luggage while I dealt with the car. The revolving door was not operating. Otherwise, a very pleasant stay. Would love to golf on the beautiful course.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the golf course.
