“Awesome Get-A-Way Weekend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

My wife and I read some great reviews and decided to give this place a try and we were very happy with it. My only regret is I wish we would have stayed 2 nights! So quiet and peaceful, clean rooms, and romantic settings ideal for couples to sneak away on the weekend. The location is only 30 minutes from Minneapolis, so it's so easy to get to! Walking in downtown Stillwater(which is a 5 minute drive) was very fun as well. If you like B&B's, put the Outing Lodge on your list.

Room Tip: Robert Frost! No HotTub, but really luxorious room.

Making a reservation was a hassle; their reservation policies are not clear and don't make much sense, also you can't make a reservation too far in advance. But the stay itself was lovely; the staff were friendly, breakfast was good, and the room was clean.

Beautiful old house and lovely garden. B & B is located in a regional park with hiking trails. Breakfast was very tasty. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for a nice romantic getaway. It would also be a beautiful venue for a wedding.

Monday eve, my friend and I were fortunate enough to be able to spend a night in the Bob Dylan room at the Outing Lodge. Once I was finally able to secure a definite reservation (this was no easy task with numerous phone calls having to be made to verify same), the stay at this rustic lodge was absolutely wonderful. We loved having the trails in Pine Point Park to hike on. The open shower in the double jacuzzi tub was a new experience. Champagne and truffles were there on our arrival to enjoy and we did! Loved the yard and gardens with beautiful flowers. Fun to see the display of books/photos of weddings that have taken place here. Breakfast Tuesday morning was also exemplary - a real touch of Europe with the warm croissants, boiled eggs, meat, cheese, fresh fruit, etc. Having the owner available to chat with both in the eve and the AM made it feel very welcoming. I would most certainly recommend the Outing Lodge.

Room Tip: Check out the website for the Outing Lodge and choose a theme room that you might enjoy.

We had an amazing weekend at The Outing Lodge B&B... it’s gorgeous!!! Located in Pine Point Park it’s a country mansion surrounded with beautiful gardens and nature, all of which automatically reflects, peace, quiet, relaxation...it's the ideal place to escape for a weekend just to chill and relax and enjoy the silence and the nature...All rooms have their own breathtaking views. Outing Lodge ...where you truly feel home from the very moment you entered and is obviously for its amazing gardens. But already when you have a look at the different character of the suites and especially the wonderful fire place in the most rooms, you will be delighted.
The wow-factor of the hotel clearly are the wonderful wide gardens, the of multi-use trails for biking, bird watching, cross-country, the event locations, the cozy illumination and flower arrangements, the great and exquisite cuisine and: again and again the very personalized and outstanding service.
The staff both at the restaurant and the rooms... excellent, nothing is too much trouble, the cleanliness is impeccable, and the food is phenomenal: all expectations including fresh fruit, great breakfast buffet, delicious home-cooked and international dishes, French bread...with an extensive selection of fine Northwest, California, regional and international wines.
By the way, if you're looking to party at night, enjoy drinks with your friends or go to a club or something, you will drive a short way to the town of Stillwater or St Paul… or you can stay at the Lodge that has a comfortable bar and floor dance for a fun night life or any kind of entertainment...
Outing Lodge B&B is indeed an oasis of tranquility and calm. With manicured lawns, beautifully tended gardens and birds. They will also host special events like weddings and is a firm favorite for many conferences, birthday breakfast, lunch, drinks or and dinner.
It is heartbreaking having to leave and a delight every time we return at this great place.
To sum up, if you are looking to relax, enjoy nature and escape from the city noise, Outing Lodge is the place to go…We truly recommend Outing Lodge B&B, Service Excellence was what we were looking for and what we simply got.

The spacious room was comfortable and clean. We went for a hike along the surrounding trails with their sweet dog. Breakfast was delicious and it was nice to sit at our own table in their beautifully decorated area rather than sitting with strangers at other B&Bs .

My husband and I stayed at the Outing Lodge at Pine Point recently and it was the best experience we have had at a Bed and Breakfast Inn.
The staff and owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
We loved the quaintness of the lodge and the grounds were so beautiful with all the flowers.
It is a quiet and peaceful setting out in the country with all the woods and walking/biking trails surrounding the lodge. It is only a few miles out of Stillwater so it is close enough to go into town and enjoy all the wonderful shops, trolley car rides and restaurants Sillwater has to offer.
I highly recommend the Outing Lodge to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives and rest and relax at this beautiful oasis.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
