“Update need badly!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2014

We came to town for Oktoberfest. Glad we could find a room to stay on short notice. Our stay was just ok. The whole hotel is in a need of remodel. Very outdated and worn. Room was cleaner then I expected from reading previous reviews. No odor either. Bed was fine for me but husband with back problem didn't like it. Staff were friendly but not very professional. If they didn't wear a name tag I wouldn't know they worked there. You would think they would at least have shirt with the logo or something. They also stood outside the entrance and smoked.
If we come again for Oktoberfest and only used the room to sleep in, we might stay here again. But otherwise, it would suggest finding somewhere else to stay if you can.

On our recent overnight, we found the room to be clean and no odors. The room was quiet with a comfortable bed. The room was somewhat outdated (ex-the chair in the room was ripped & the tub needed re-caulking). The staff were friendly and helpful. The shower head was located HIGH which is a great benefit for tall people. The shower head also had multiple settings. There is NO ELEVATOR in this hotel.

The breakfast was typical for an Econo-lodge. Items included waffles, raisin bran, fruit loops, Cheerios, yogurt, bagels, toast, instant oatmeal, fresh sweet rolls, muffins, orange & apple juice, coffee and tea.

This is a reasonably priced hotel. This is satisfactory lodging for the basic sleep and go traveler.

Room Tip: There is NO ELEVATOR in this hotel.

There is no elevator and every room is either up or down steps from the lobby. There is a ramp down the few steps to the first floor rooms. The second level is up one flight and the third floor is up 3 flights.
Rooms are basic, clean and feel safe. Decor is outdated and cheap to start with. Beds are worn and pillows are lumpy and too soft. The bathrooms are dim and old but they work.
Front desk staff was nice. The maids did not replace used coffee packets or through away empty, dirty cups.

Although we've been very happy at the Microtel next door in the past, it was sold out so we tried the Econo Lodge. A small step down, but definitely clean and well-priced. We'd certainly stay here again.

I was a little wary of booking here after reading the reviews, but overall, I was quite happy with Econolodge, New Ulm! The room was acceptably clean and everything worked...plumbing, Wi-fi, etc. I really appreciate that they are very good about accepting well behaved pets and the reasonable pet charge. Everything was quiet and peaceful, thanks to other respectful pet owners that I know were also staying there for a pet event in town.

I also appreciate the fact that they honored my request in my online reservation for a room on the first floor close to an exit door, just because it's more convenient when you have pet. We will return!

We were in new Ulm for one night, so was looking for some place that was reasonable price to stay. It's in same parking lot as pizza ranch, so just few steps away was food. For Econolodge the place was nice, breakfast was good. Room had microwave and fridge, also the flat screen tv was good. Wifi was fast. We enjoyed our stay.

My mother sister and I stayed here for a girls vet away. At first it was fine average hotel. Beds seem smaller but very high off the ground. The part that grossed us out is the next morning I woke up and had a BED BUG crawling on my back!!! Threw the sheets back to look at the bed and found DRIED BLOOD on my sheet!!! I immediately jumped in the shower. Checked out shortly afterwards and we don't complain we work on hospitality ourselves but when we did say something the lady sat there arguing with us! Not okay!! Something should have been done and all she said was to contact our company we booked it threw there was nothing she could do!!!
