Great location right off 94, Walgreens next door. Lobby looks renovated but building is really old. We had a standard room, tub was 70's yellow and chipping away. Bath door cracked/swollen so water issues. Rest of room was ok, no bed bugs, we checked. Pillows were nice. We were there for hockey event for 3 nights and seen the suites were much nicer. Interior rooms surround pool/indoor mini golf and balcony around top with plenty of tables for gathering large groups. Really neat layout. Pool was great size with plenty of seating for parents. Mini golf was bonus for our large group, a bit rundown but worked well as something extra to do at no cost. Breakfast was nothing to mention other than plenty of seating and pretty clean. Bar/lounge area looked nice, comedy club on site. NO ELEVATOR in the building!
Now the staff experience...wow is all I can say. They literally act like bouncers 24/7. Towels were gone in pool area so once delivered we went to grab 5 for our group, the guy only allowed us 4, what's with the limit we had no clue as he was delivering more than plenty for all swimmers there and it was closing soon. When eating breakfast, which shuts down literally at 10am sharp, the gal was taking the food away as guests were still trying to get it, she was very abrupt and rude when collecting it all, never seen a hotel cut guests off so fast. No kids outside of rooms after 11, no adults past 12, the staff does their rounds precisely on time to enforce these rules. Fair rules, but it's how they patrol it and talk to you that is not very friendly. The lobby as well as the bar area is then open to adults for drinking n mingling. Well the bar closed early 1 night due to slow business so when some went down in late evening to hang out, we only had the lobby. Staff literally sat in a chair and watched the groups, seen 1 thing he didn't like, he jumped on ya. There is a large piano there clearly with a note not to play(why have it there then) but our silly friend lifted the hinge to play 'Mary had a little lamb', and the guy jumped up, slammed the hinge down, pointed his finger at him and said, 'I can put you to bed right now'. Now our group was there to have some fun, nobody was out of control whatsoever. Lighten up! They treated us like kids when it was pretty innocent. A polite reminder to not play it would have done just fine.
So its all what you are after, thought I'd list the pros n cons we experienced.
One more thing, check your bill upon departure, they will automatically charge you tax on the room safe even if you didn't use it. They did it to our friends last year so we knew to check for it and sure enough, they charged us. Credit was given when questioned.
