“Typical Hampton - with one issue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2011

Hilton does a great job with the Hampton Inn brand. They are all basically identical and provide great service.

This hotel is a standard Hampton, so no surprises there. However, the v e r y slow wifi connection was frustrating. I tried to do some work while there and it was borderline impossible.

Other than the wifi, great place.

Arrived at this hotel at 1:15am - was told by the rude and disheveled agent that they were sold out and had over booked - and have taken the liberty to walk me to the Super 8! REALLY!!!! Thoroughly disappointed that they did not take the time to call me earlier to notify of the change really pushed me over the edge! I was traveling to the MN area on business and was staying there under the team member which I think was not to their liking as they seemed to be quite busy that night! If they did not want the team member rate to be available then they should have taken precautions and closed it off earlier! Be careful going to this hotel as they might walk to you elsewhere if they don't like how much you are paying! So disappointed in the high and mighty Hilton Brand and the sub par operations of this hotel!

I stayed at this location for business for two months. I complained to the manager that the Internet is available but it is so slow that I can't read emails, never less do anything else. I ended up using my Verizon data card to perform my business responsibilities with my computer from the room.
Scott, the manager acknowledged l it, and explained that it is like this for months, and they already changed internet providers but it remained the same.

One day, on a Tuesday, the only elevator they had broke, and when I checked out on Friday, it was still out of order.

Nice that Scott, the manager cooks something simple for the guests on Tue (or Wed) evenings free of charge.

For closing,-- the Hotel is very nice and very clean, and very close to highways. But not having internet for months while I was there put a huge dent into my rating here.

I travel very frequently for business and often choose Hilton brand hotels. Sorry to say but this Hampton was a disappointment. Check-in was slow. However, the gentleman at the front desk was moving as quickly as possible. He was accommodating and honored my request for a room away from the high school soccer players staying that evening.

Two reasons why I believe I'll stay elsewhere only next trip to Minneapolis: one, no hot water on a Saturday night. Even by Sunday morning, the temperature was still not adequate. Two, it was a bit noisy with doors opening and closing.

Had to wait quite a while until someone came to the front desk to check us in, but there was a sign saying they'd return soon. Room was pretty spacious, very clean.

We made a last-minute decision to visit friends in the suburb of Golden Valley MN, near Minneapolis. The Hampton Inn turned out to be an excellent choice and a pleasant surprise. The location is ideal, near the I-394 feeder for downtown Minneapolis. Perhaps because of the short notice booking we were in one of the Handicap-accessible rooms, These are bigger than the standard rooms and feature a bigger bathroom, which we enjoyed. Not sure if there is a premium price for these rooms but if so it was worth it as we were staying four nights The property is close to a mall & several restaurants, and no doubt close enough to the typical Twin Cities attractions. Staff were friendly & attentive, from the manager down to housekeepers. Certainly plan on returning to this hotel on our next visit.

Room Tip: handicap-accessible rooms have bigger bathrooms.

I like Hampton Inns for the value and comfortable accommodations. I was not disappointed during my one-night stay this past weekend. My AAA rate was $76/night for a king bed. The room was clean and comfortable. Wireless internet worked great. Breakfast was a bit lacking (ran low on eggs and the coffee is just OK). I went a little before 10 am and this may have been the reason for the lack of eggs. But we had cereal, yogurt, waffles, and more - and were quite satisfied. Breakfast and front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Convenient location near expressway and shopping. Very close to General Mills headquarters and other businesses. Business center was helpful when I needed to print something. All in all, a wonderful stay! Highly recommended!
