Our stay was for a girls' night out. We were very impressed with the spa/club and had great hopes of a fun night in a great location. The bathroom was gorgeous, the view was fantastic (10th floor), and the room seemed cozy (but incredibly HARD mattresses...I just chalked it up to the fact that I'm used to a Sleep Number bed at home).
Despite the fact that the fridge was clearly missing some items, the sheers were not in place, and the bolster pillow was missing from one of the beds (both were on the other bed), we were still excited. This all went south when we encountered a large BED BUG crawling on the bed without any bolsters...thankfully before anyone had slept in it. We immediately packed up our things, called the front desk and left the room. A desk agent met us promptly, offered profuse apologies, and moved us to another room on the "executive floor."
There was nothing executive about the floor or the room...no lounge, no conceige, nothing. To top it off, the room was DUSTY but still we muscled through. We thought we could redeem the night at happy hour, only to find that the restaurant hours that were posted meant nothing. It was closed and we had to order room service.
We called the manager the next morning to discuss what happened. He was aware of the bed bug situation, stated it was a "stage 5" and likely a single traveler...even suggested that perhaps one of us brought the bug with us! We later learned that the hotel had been closed for two weeks, hence the dust in the room. We also got the impression that the first room where the bug was was a room that was off-market, and still under construction. That would explain the missing sheers and other telltale signs of not being ready for use.
Very, very disappointed not only with the experience but also with how it was handled. We were comped for room service and room tax. In hindsight, we should have just left but we tried to make a good go of it. I was going to book a trip there for my husband and me, but after this...I think not.
The only consolation was that the W was really close, had a great Living Room (bar/lounge area, right next to Manny's, free Wifi for 4 hours). Maybe we'll just go there next time.
I think the Ivy has a good reputation, but given this experience, I will ALWAYS check mattresses fro...

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay with us.
You will be happy to know, as we were, that our pest control expert company came to inspect the room and certified that the bug was not a “bed bug” and that there was no trace of any other insects in the room you stayed in.
As with before, we apologies for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you and we hope we have the opportunity to earn your business again in the future.
