“Very comfortable bed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We lamented the lack of a mini-fridge, but the room was in very good shape and the bed was perfect. We did have an issue with the room rate, but after three conversations with the front desk, the issue was resolved to our satisfaction. We enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant. If you want a lower priced restaurant, there are options within walking distance. The pool was warm--always a plus.

We stayed at this Doubletree last weekend. Very nice and clean rooms, comfortable beds, coffee maker in the room. Really nothing to complain about except that I had to have my room key reset and that the coffee in the lobby was $2.86. Also, our two rooms, though on the same floor , were about as far apart as possible. Otherwise, nice hotel.

Room Tip: Perhaps press more for closer rooms?

I feel the need to amend a review that I wrote about a year ago. We have stayed at this hotel many times, and had a very miserable experience last weekend. I can no longer give it a 5 star rating. It will be awhile before we go back. Too bad, as we like the hotel, but customer service is important to me, and the front desk is lacking at this time. Do not count on wifi - - too long a story, but good luck!!!!

This hotel is very conveniently located on Park Place in Minneapolis right across the street from Toby Keith's bar and TGI Friday's. Awesome front desk staff who are very helpful and also give you cookies. I really loved the layout of the hotel. Great bar downstairs and a very cool pool atmosphere. The rooms are very comfortable as well as the beds. Unfortunately our room did not have a microwave or refrigerator but oh well. Good stay.

We stayed in room 1113 and I'm not usually superstituous but this room would not let us in! When we told the desk person she screamed that we must have it close to my cell phone. When I explained that the cell phone was in the room, sh huffed up another reason "we must be doing it wrong". AND DON'T BOTHER HER, THERE IS A PHONE ON THAT FLOOR! Well the guy came up and got it to work, but everyday from Thursday the 18 through Sunday the 21 it was like this, the door did not work.

Also, they have it set up if you want internet you have to pay $6.99 for a day. They will tell you that there is no wireless internet except on the 1st floor. Well, I finished up a story on Kindle and guess what? It connected without the $6.99. Unfortunately I had paid on Friday and this was Sunday before I realized I'd been screwed.

The restaraunt is the worst garbage ever and at $32 a plate, do go find somewhere else to eat. Their food is totally unedible. Because of our time restraints we couldn't leave to find food elsewhere and this was unbelievably bad. Steak tasted rotten, eggplant parmesian was burnt, blah, every dish was subpar. Their breakfast buffet in $14 and is not better than a free breakfast at the super 8. And at least you get Orange juice without paying extra.

This is a convention they intend (so far) to have every year, if they don't choose another venue, I doubt we'll be going back.

Room Tip: Get on your Garmin and find a different hotel.

I stayed for 3 days recently and was never told about a breakfast buffet. Coffee was 2.50, room service 19 percent charge plus 3.00. Seems a lot of nickel and diming. Had to switch rooms due to musty smell in the first room.
The beds were wonderful and the rooms were clean and tidy every day when I came back.

Really liked this hotel. Stayed there with my husband and three young children. Especially loved the location ... There is a Costco just across the street and very close to Caribou coffee, a dairy queen, and a bunch of great eating places. Fantastic Mexican restaurant called Rojo's located in a trendy mall area just across the street. There is also a theater located across the street.

Hotel is a great central location. About a 15-20 minute drive to Mall of America, and about the same amount of time to the airport. If you're in the area, check out the Minnesota Zoo. Absolutely fantastic!

The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and there is a decent fitness room which is accessible to all guests. Rooms were decent sized.
