“Great Hotel, Great Location, Great City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2009

We've never stayed in a Residence Inn before but got a good deal for a 4-day stay. It was amazing! The suites are very large. We had a huge living room, good-sized bedroom and a nice small kitchen. Two big screen plasma TVs (one in living room, one in bedroom). Very nicely decorated and comfortable. Great for even a short stay. Extremely convenient downtown location--close to Macy's, Target, Nicollet Mall and movie theatres. Super friendly staff. About a 30 minute walk down to the river (which is not to be missed) and The Guthrie theater.

Once the billing issues got figured out, I really liked this hotel. The location is great, the room has all the amenities you need, and the TV's are the biggest and best I've had in a hotel (outside of my 5 star experiences in New York City). The worst thing though....I was in a one bedroom suite, but you hadda go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom, so really the privacy level is slim and none. Good central location though....close to the Target Center and 1st Avenue.

My family and I stayed at the Residence Inn Minneapolis Downtown to handle personal business in the city and surrounding area.

The hotel is in a great location for downtown Minneapolis. It is indirectly linked to the skyway system (just off the hotel lobby). Macy's, Saks and Barnes & Noble are all within 2-3 blocks, as are many independent and high-end chain restaurants (like Melting Pot and Rock Bottom). For long-term guests, there is a Target store only a 1.5 blocks away for groceries, toiletries, etc. It is a short walk to the Target Center arena and the theater / entertainment district.

The hotel is clean and inviting. We used the hard-wire internet, but wireless is also available. The free breakfast was typical of a Residence Inn.

The only reason I don't give this facility 5 stars is that the extra amenities at the hotel are lacking. The hotel itself is built on a parking garage - lobby is on level 1, but guest rooms run from floors 10-14. As a result, there is little to the hotel other than the guest rooms. There is no pool (indoor or out), limited fitness facilities and a cramped business center. Most great rooms at Residence Inns are relatively comfy with magazines, books, etc., but because this one is so separate from the guest rooms it didn't have much. There appears to be a bar and billiards room off the breakfast area, but it wasn't open on weekends.

Overall, though, this is a very good hotel in a great location.

Stayed at the Residence Inn for a night in Jan. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Studio room was spacious, clean and updated. Room had a flat screen TV and bed was very comfortable. Location of the hotel was also great! It is linked indoors to many of the nearby downtown buildings so it was great to be able to avoid the winter Minneapolis weather! Also free hot breakfast was a plus!

The location of the hotel is great, just steps from the nicollet mall with plenty of shops and dining. The staff was very helpful in explaining how to use the skyway system connecting the hotel to many other buildings downtown. The rooms were a relatively standard residence inn layout with plenty of room and stylish features. Rock Bottom Restaurant even delivers room service to the RI which was nice as I arrived late. Breakfast was free and offered plenty of variety.

Overall, I liked this property. A very convenient downtown location, just 3 blocks from the Nicollet Mall Light Rail stop, and very close to shopping, restaurants, and convention center. The room is very spacious with a kitchette and sitting area. I found the room to be clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Nothing special on decor or furnishings. The only qualm I have about this hotel is the price - I think it's a bit high for the overall quality of the hotel. That said, I'd consider staying here again.

Superior staff at the front desk. Helpful with directions and assistance. Friendliest bunch I have ever encountered. Special thanks to Lacy for her suggestions and assistance. Minneapolis is a great city and Residence Inn is a great place to stay. Very walkable city with plenty of restaurants. Very near Nicollette Mall (pedestrian friendly street that runs from Convention Center up several blocks). Shops and eats. Some expensive and some priced moderately.

Room was quiet except when air conditioner kicked on. Bed and bedding was comfortable. Kitchen was complete and everything worked. Maid service was mysterious--went to breakfast, which is excellent, and returned to a completely clean room!

  • Liked — Spacious & Well located w/in the city
  • Disliked — A/C needs to be quieter
