The Marquette Hotel is a brilliant choice for romantic weekends in downtown Minneapolis. The location is very convenient to any venue downtown and the staff were exceedingly friendly. The building (IDS Tower) is very unique and it's shape is reflected in the layout of the hallways in the hotel; we would have neglected to notice this because of the location of our room, but it was kindly pointed out by the bellman. We booked an executive suite (room 1555) and I would highly recommend it. Included recent renovations, corner room with panoramic views, beautiful appointments (art deco deluxe), jacuzzi tub (all around great bathroom), very comfortable beds, and totally sound-proof (at least when we visited). The ambience in the room was second to none and reinforced a sense of grandeur without pretension. For the price of the suite (around $200/night), the value was tremendous. You could easily pay $250 - $300/night for a similar room elsewhere!
