“Great stay for Conference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Went for conference and this was a great place to stay -- the room was comfortable nice sized bathroom. It was a a bit of a walk from the convention center to hotel with luggage due to check out and leaving after the conference. Easy check in, easy and great to walk downtown which I loved. Definitely would stay again especially for conference

Room Tip: Some rooms are on the pool level so your balcony is where people walk to get to pool so you cannot h...

Dear Auburn Tiger,
Thank you for your comments, I think you might be referring to another hotel as we do not have a swimming pool.
Thank you very much,

Stayed 3 nights for a conference, room 1218. Great location, noticeably helpful and friendly staff. Unique triangle-shaped tower. Comfortable beds. No mini-bar in the room? Other than that it's a fairly standard issue Marriott. Would return.

Dear Bluelabelmalt,

We appreciate the kind words regarding our hotel during your recent stay. We offer our guests staying on the concierge level a bit more than others hotels to show our appreciation for their loyalty to the hotel and the Marriott brand.

We have recently replaced all of our cardio equipment to keep up with our guests needs for the latest exercise equipment.

We hope we have the chance to host you again on your next visit.

Best regards,

1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

After a long week of work travel (5 cities in 5 days) we were tired and looking forward to a good night's rest before heading to the airport at 7 am. We were pleased when the front desk said they were giving us a suite on the 26th floor as we are platinum Marriott rewards members. The room was clean, but even though it was a non-smoking room it had a faint smell of cigarette smoke. This was especially true with the bed linens. The real fun started when music and singing from somewhere beneath our room began as a slow rumble around 10:30 pm. We tolerated it because we were too tired. Around 2:00 pm the place was rocking and our room was thumping. Needless to say it was a long night. We should have known they have problems in this hotel as they post signs on every floor stating "Please Be Considerate Of Our Guests. Excessive noise that disturbs other guests may result in eviction". In all our travels, where I should add that we almost exclusively stay at Marriott properties, we have never seen anything posted like this! There are lots of hotels in Minneapolis, even other Marriott properties, so my advise is move on to another hotel. This place is not worth your time or money and definitely not worth giving up on a night 's sleep!

Dear Vheckler,

Thank you for your recent comments regarding our hotel. We appreciate hearing both the good and the bad from our guests. This provides feedback that allows us to look for better ways to take care of our guests.

Guests staying at our hotel during the weekend have many different reasons for being here. We place these signs as a reminder to be considerate of others that may not be for the same reason as they are. Case in point was the Zombie Pub Crawl. This is annual city wide fund raiser that benefits a local charity. Other guests like you are here for rest and relaxation and do want to be disturbed by guests who are looking for other entertainment.

The hotel provides 24 hour security to assist our guests as needed. The hotel recently started a Night Owl Lounge on Friday and Saturday nights, that runs from 11: pm to 4: am. The Night Owl Lounge offers games, music as well as pizza and other food and beverage offerings. The Night Owl Lounge provides another are besides the guest rooms for our guests to enjoy themselves without disturbing others.

Again, we appreciate your feedback and if you would like to discuss your stay with me further, please feel free to contact me.

Best regards,

Kurt Boerner

Marriott Minneapolis has one major thing going for it; it's in the center of the downtown Minneapolis. The location is close to Target Field (Twins Territory) and Target Center (Timberwolves and concert central), First Avenue Music venue (made famous by a certain purple musician in the 80's) and multiple corporate offices, Target, Wells Fargo, Ameriprise to name a few.

The hotel is connected to shopping, entertainment and corporate Venus via the Minneapolis skywalk, which is a wonderful set of second floor walkways allowing access to central downtown entirely indoors, a major blessing in winter or on bad weather days.

The rates vary dependent on the time of the year, but typically hover at or near $165 a night, which gets you a decent sized room, rice paper thin towels, a one cup coffee maker, desk area and a small flat screen TV. The rooms are typical Marriott rooms complete with relatively new, but outdated decor, decently comfortable beds and a reading chair.

If you have status with their rewards club you have access to the well-equipped concierge lounge on the 30th floor, free Marriott bottled water, fruit, breakfast and other hors d'oeuvres in the evening, and decent hotel style gym. You can also pay $40 to have access if you are not a member, a price that's way too high for what is offered.

The elevators are super slow especially in the morning during foot traffic rush hour, which can be a major hassle, leave early or late to avoid it. Given the fact that it's downtown it's close to many good resturants, so if you can get out of the hotel eat somewhere else. The city is as safe as an other busy downtown and normal precautions should be used if walking alone at night

If you're looking for a place to stay and all other hotels are sold out, or if you're a Marriott point’s snob the choice is up to you, otherwise I would look elsewhere. Please note that I am a Marriot Lifetime Platinum member which means I've stayed at a lot of Marriott’s in my life and this one stands out as average at best.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Target Field, otherwise you will be staring right into a well populated office...

Dear Switherj.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our hotel. We appreciate your continued loyalty to the Marriott brand and I hope that you were able to enjoy your Platinum status at our hotel.

You mentioned a number of positive items regarding our hotel that include our central location in downtown Minneapolis. We have heard yours and other comments regarding the condition of the terry in our rooms. We have begun to replace our older terry and we are replacing it with new and thicker more absorbent towels. We have already heard from a number of guests about the improvement.

We hope we have the opportunity to serve you again on your next trip to Minneapolis.
