“Great Stay in Minneapolis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

Hotel was great, rooms were clean and spacious. I had a room on the 24th floor as requested. Could see the Twins Stadium from my room and there was a game so that was cool. ALL staff was friendly. I found the property to be very clean which was awesome! Only drawbacks to this property : rooms had no refrigerator , elevators from parking garage to 5th floor check in were a bit difficult to navigate , neighborhood at night is sketchy. There are alot of homeless in the area but this is the downtown area of a major city and thats what you will have in major city. Had no problems though. Would stay there again as its close to all the bars and shopping. Had a very pleasent stay.

The MMCC is a great hotel in downtown Minneapolis - close to all amenities. A weird triangle design glass building and a weird set up...enter from the street or 2nd floor walkway up to the 5th floor for check in. The elevators between street and 5th floor are very slow, there was always a long line up to leave & they were unpredictable as to how long they would take to arrive. The room though was amazing, spacious & well laid out. For the size of the room, you would expect a tub in the washroom - even though I prefer a shower which was large enough for two. The restaurant had a great breakfast buffet with made to order omelets. Great service from the front desk, housekeeping & restaurant...my hotel of choice for Minneapolis & I would make it yours too.

I stayed here for a friend's bachelorette party, and we had a great time. Nice clean rooms (although we did have a leaky shower head that dripped onto the facet for the bathtub causing it to splash and had flooded the bathroom by the time we up to the room). It was fine when we tilted the shower head so it wasn't dripping directly onto the facet anymore. We had 5 girls staying in the rooms and there was plenty of room for all of our bags even with the trundle bed down. Lots of mirrors and counter space in the bathroom helped facilitate all of us getting ready. We were on the 25th floor... very cool views! It takes about 3 separate elevators to get to the rooms from the parking garage (not the most convenient, but not horrible either). The location is awesome, there is so much to do in the area... tons of shopping, restaurants, bars, movies, and all sorts of other stuff within walking distance. The price was pretty decent for a downtown Minneapolis hotel of this quality as well. I didn't think the area of town was that bad. I probably wouldn't walk around alone, but I felt comfortable walking around with a group of 8 girls at night. If you stick to the main roads the area is fine.

This is a nice Marriott. Lovely rooms, nice and clean, excellent views, well run. The bar is nice and open and the Concierge Lounge is well run with good food, and efficient meal delivery. If you possibly can ask for an executive king corner room on a high floor. They are huge, and the views of Target Field are fabulous. The down sides of this hotel are (1) the location is not bad overall but the neighbor is not safe. There are dozens of people outside the front entrance drinking, fighting, and it is not safe to walk around after dark. Lots of police in the area which helps, but thisnisnnot someplace you want to be out walking around by yourself; (2) elevator situation stinks! There was frequently a ten minute wait for the elevator up or down. Not surenwhatbthey can do about it, but it does become a huge pain for timing. Overall, a nice, clean, well run property, but I will not stay here again with the unsafe neighborhood.

I have been staying at this 31 story marriott for 7 years and I will continue to do so on future trips. However, this time around I was disappointed on 2 events that occurred:

- During my stay, two of the 5 elevators were out on maintenance and the hotel was sold out. Attempting to get downstairs in the morning became a 15-20 minute ordeal, with the elevator stopping on every single floor compounding the problem. There was no formal communication on the elevator topic, and more importantly there was no communication on what options (stairs) to get to other parts of the building. Also, adults piling into an elevator (more than 10) is also not advisable from the existing sign in the elevator. Not a good way to start your day.

- Also, this happens from a time to time, but there should be a simple, efficient way to address this. Someone else's alarm clock goes off in the room adjacent to yours and keeps ringing for 20 minutes (it actually wakes you up it is so loud). I assume the room has to be vacant, I call the front desk for assistance and it takes 2 phone calls to take care of the matter (not sure if the first person knew what to do, or how to address this).

Very nice hotel with exceptionally quiet rooms. This would have been a better rating if it were not for the elevators. The first elevator from the ground floor to the lobby was small but ok. Then you had to switch to another elevator to get to your rooms. The lounge was good with excellent service. It had a patio which was nice. One problem was the meeting rooms were very cold especially to this southern boy. The staff seemed to think that it was ok and did not change the temps. Thje concierge level was excellent with a fully automated expresso machine. The food was fresh and the hosts were helpfull. The location was fun with lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Right in the heart of downtown, spacious rooms, all the comfort you'd expect from a Marriott, very corteous staff. The only - very minor - annoyance, if you wanna call it so, it's that you have to take two elevators, one to get to the fifth floor reception, and another one to go to your room. But, despite the busy weekend, there was never a long wait. Can't rate the price as it was rather high but because of the gay pride parade that attracted a lot of people in town.
They are upgrading to HD tv, a bit late anyway, but better than never. Still, would like to see a larger screen, the ones they have are smaller than the new ones in the newer hotels (especially the Spring Hill Suites). Overall very satisfied though.
