“Great hotel for the price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011 via mobile

We stayed at this property, knowing it was right across the street from the Minnesota state fair shuttle. It was perfect and the staff was very friendly. If you're looking for a downtown hotel for, this is not the one, but we got a fabulous rate on a suite using our AARP. membership. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a good deal with plenty of access to downtown hotel.. They do run a courtesy van during the week as well. Did I say free parking?

Very close to 35W, and we had easy pleasant check in for our 4 night stay. We stayed on the first floor and it was quiet, far enough away from the lobby. Coffee in the lobby would have been great in real cups instead of disposables, better for environment too!
Bed linens covering our bed were white and there were a few spots on them and the blankets were old (showing wear). There were 2 not so comfortable chairs in the room with no table between them to put your coffee cup on. Similarly, chairs in the lobby were the kind you would sink down in. Overall our stay was fine, clean bathroom, plenty of towels, comfortable beds and access to computer/internet to check emails in lobby.

Clean, great coffee in lobby. Pool is an added bonus. Great deal for the cost. Does have mystery yellow water in shower.

Great location! The Hotel is close to downtown and 35W and very easy to find. Nice rooms with plenty of space and a comfortable bed with nice linens. The staff is friendly and the hotel was very quiet, would definitely stay there again.

I stayed at this hotel for a swimming trip at the university of minnesota. Our team didnt get checked in until like 11:00. so i go to take a shower and the water is freezing cold and it didnt get warm until i was done with my shower and when i turned on the water it was a yucky yellow color. Same thing with the sink. The beds were kind of small and so were the rooms. especially with 4 guys in a room. not to many places to put our luggage. not too bad if your staying by yourself. i liked that the coffee in the lobby was free and was an unlimited supply. also be aware that the parking lot lights are a bright orange color... hard to sleep unless the shades are shut. pool has wood paneling and gives it a cozy feel... over a pretty good hotel except for the water problems... max 2 per room you can go 4 but its crowded

Check in fast and friendly. King room had lovely decor with interesting paint, geometric-patterned carpet, and a comforable red sleep sofa. Room immaculate. King bed extremely comfortable and inviting. Average size bathroom had ceramic tile floor and tub surround and a beautiful granite top vanity, and upscale toiletries. Really appreciated FREE BOTTLE OF WATER each day, left beside the coffeemaker. I had an issue to resolve and staff [Joe] went all out to ascertain my immediate satisfaction.
No free food other than coffee in room and lobby, and sometimes fresh chocoate chip cookies.in lobby.
Enjoyed 2 breakfasts in dining room. Buffet $9 included drink and was excellent with a number of both hot and cold choices. Could also order from menu. Had one dinner, also excellent for about $15. All servers efficient and friendly.
Community areas attractive and inviting. Lovely outdoor courtyard with tables and chairs.
There is an indoor pool and fitness center. Did not use either.
Hotel has free shuttle within five mile radius. Will not get you to Mall of America which is 20 miles, but can take shuttle to light raill station and ride that to mall. Can also take light rail both to and from airport, but make reservation in advance for hotel shuttle.
I will definitely stay again if I return to Minneapolis.

Room Tip: Some rooms have great city view. Room 804 air not really cold and view of interstate; room 821 air...

We were very disappointed in our stay at this hotel for a family wedding. The things we were happy about were, the early check-in, the location and they offered a free shuttle but it went downhill from there. When we checked in after staying in a dirty cabin by the lake all week, we all couldn't wait to take a nice long clean shower. Well, there was hair in the tub and only one bath towel was restocked. That's a lot to share with 5 people. We then went to make the pull out bed and there were 2 very dirty towels stuffed in the bed. So gross!!! There were also no linens for the bed so I called down for some and 15 minutes later, someone showed up with only a top sheet, then I told him I need the full set of linens and he went and got me a bottom sheet. Then I had to ask for a blanket. Things you would think would already be stocked in a room with a pull-out. After finally getting our 3 very tired and crabby boys to bed, the housekeeping staff started knocking VERY LOUDLY on our door at 8:15 am waking up the baby. I told them we were not leaving until noon. I would have put out the "DO NOT DISTURB" sign, but our room didn't have one. Housekeeping continued to come back 3 more times, each time waking up another child. We went to swim one more time before leaving and the hot tub and sauna were broken. And to top it off, we accidently left 2 very nice dress shirts and pair of pants in the closet, I called 2 HOURS after we left to have someone look, finally after 5 DAYS of talking to different people, they are now mysterously missing. So frustrating! And yes, we are 100% sure we left them. We will NOT be back.
