“Slightly Smaller Rooms, but Excellent Hotel Overall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2012

I stayed here on business in July 2011 and thought overally that this was an excellent hotel. Extremely friendly & helpful staff and super clean rooms. The accomodations / ammenities are excellent (nice updated and modern rooms) and the concept is very interesting for the hotel overall. The hotel is a converted historical bank (hence, the Bank restaurant inside) and the lobby areas reflect this old charm. Really the only slightly negative comment is more just to manage expectations in perspective, this is an older building, so the rooms are slightly smaller than other hotels of this quality. HOWEVER, it does not detract from the overall wonderful experience I had while staying at the Westin downtown Minneapolis. It's in a great location for the downtown area (close to everything) and The Bank (restaurant within the hotel) is a good choice for dinner or breakfast. The conference rooms / ammenities are also well done / apppointed so I wouldn't hestitate recommending this location / hotel for a conference if needed. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, especially for recommendations on restaurants / activities and directions for the area so don't hesitate to approach them! I would absolutely stay at this hotel again for business or leisure and highly recommend it!

We were fortunate to have stayed @ The Westin MPLS for the weekend. We were in MPLS to look at the venues for our son's upcoming wedding. We stayed @ the Westin in hopes to use it for the wedding block for our guests. We were sold from the beginning.

CONVENIENT
• The front door of the Westin in just a few steps from the light rail stop so we hopped on the train @ the
airport and walked right in the lobby -could not have been easier or cheaper.
• All of the things you need are within blocks- a multitude of restaurants, coffee shops etc., shopping right
across the street, links to the skyway system from the lobby etc...

STAFF
• The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. They were very impressive as a first impression.
• They were very accommodating in showing us many rooms and possibilities for food and beverage
service and these were just the front desk staff.

SPACE/ ROOMS
• The hotel is very quite with many great spaces around the lobby for our group to gather and meet.
• Our rooms were amazing- modern, stylish, very roomy with a bathroom for a queen. We looked at suites
and standard rooms and were very pleased with all.
• The website is very accurate but the photos do not do the restaurant/ bar/ lobby justice.
• Parking across the street at the Gaviidae garage is only $11 and was very simple. Valet was available and
those guys were so pleasant and gave a good first impression the moment we got to the front door.

We looked @ 5 other hotels in the downtown area when we were in MPLS for the weekend and the Westin beat all the others hands down. We booked immediately. Working with Jill ,in the Sales Department ,has been easy and pleasant. She has been extremely helpful.

All of our family who has looked at the Westin website is very impressed. We know when they get there, their experience will match their expectations.

My husband and I stayed for the weekend with our son and his fiancee and all 4 of us were extremely with the Westin and all it has to offer and would recommend it highly and obviously have, since he are using this as the only hotel for our wedding weekend.

Can't wait to get the party started at the Westin.

Room Tip: suite 532 is great.

My wife and I recently stayed at The Westin during a house hunting trip for job relocation. We could not have been more impressed at how welcome we felt with both the hotel and the cities. During our 4-day stay, the staff continually went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were taken care of. A new city can be a bit intimidating when navigating for the first time; however we were given so much care and detail as to what the different areas the Twin Cities had to offer that we were able to narrow our search considerably. The general manager, Mark, even took time out of his busy day to listen to what we were looking for and gave us great advice - not only about areas in which to live, but also the smaller details, such as good restaurants and entertainment - that really made our experience extraordinary. This type of personal (and what honestly felt very sincere) attention to making our stay comfortable and seamless is the reason I would recommend this hotel to anyone. And that's even before mentioning the classy, yet warm feel of the hotel and the high standards of cleanliness that were evident throughout.

A few notes: if you opt for a suite, you will not be disappointed in the size - very roomy!! Although we did not sit down for dinner at the hotel restaurant, we did order room service a couple of times and appetizers during happy hour and found the food to rival that of the area restaurants. If you are a person who likes to get a work out in while on the road, the gym is one of the better setups I've seen in my travels, offering several cardio machines and enough of a selection of free weights and cable machines to get a good workout in. The location of the hotel could not be better, putting you within walking distance of enough food and entertainment venues to satisfy your needs. Also, if you need advice for anything ranging from places to eat, things to do, a tasty cocktail, or just a friendly person, ask for Andy at the bar. He went out of his way to welcome us to Minneapolis/St. Paul.

The bottom line is that by the time we left, we felt like we had made new friends and could rely on them in the future to accommodate anything we would need when we return to close on our house. And we wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else when we do!!

Great hotel that is the best deal in town! We used to stay down the street for more money for less stars but no more. I will look back in ten years and laugh at the what deals we had during the Great Recession.

Good: Awesome lobby, room, common area, staff, the Priceline price is crazy low!

Bad: not much - maybe the parking garage across the street. Just need to go one block away for an amazing garage.

Ugly: zip, nada, nothing!

Room Tip: All we have had are great

We decided to take our kids and stay overnight in downtown Minneapolis as a treat. We booked a suite at the Westin (has a pool which was a factor and centrally located). When we walked into the suite we were surprised that there wasn't a window in the bedroom, we asked if there were any suites with windows and he said that there were some on the 6th floor that might have windows but they were booked. When I booked the room they didn't say that there were no windows and I didn't think to ask. Once settled in we called down because the room was warm, the a/c isn't on because it is winter and she said that they have had complaints about the air ventilation. we asked if there were any fans and she said no, they have had many requests for fans but didn't have any. When we checked in we had asked for a cot for our kids. Before going to dinner we again asked for the cot, when we came back from dinner it wasn't there. We called down and they said that they weren't sure they even had one. One was eventually found, by this time it was past 10 pm. The room was very quiet and comfortable. We ordered room service in the morning, that came when promised, but one of the entrees wasn't there, after reading back the order it wasn't ever put into the system. I do not think that I will stay here again.

Room Tip: If you book a suite as if there is a window in the bedroom if it is important to you.

I recently stayed in a King bedroom suite at the Westin. I was blown away at how nice the room was. I travel for business very frequently throughout the year, and this was one of the nicest hotel rooms I've stayed in. The suite had hardwood floors, and the layout had the feel of a downtown condominium, not a hotel room. The staff at the hotel was very nice and professional. The hotel is also centally located in downtown, so acesss to all of the businesses in the skyway was simple and easy.

I have stayed at this hotel many times and I can honestly say that I think it's one of the best I have ever stayed at. I am a frequent business traveler who stays at many Starwood properties- and Westin Minneapolis tops the charts. The atmosphere is very inviting and the service is fantastic. The rooms are spacious, the gym is well-equipped and very clean. Their restaurant "The Bank" has great food. I think that many business travelers stay here- from the looks of the crowd. However, you can have a quiet dinner at the bar by yourself, or join in conversation with others.
