“Mary Tyler Moore walked around this lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

The chain of lakes in the twin cities makes it a wonderful place to visit. Walk around this lake in the winter, put on a long coat, and pretend you are Mary Tyler Moore from her old television series. Yup, this is the one she walked around

“Second Best City Lake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

This is the one to stroll to gaze at the gorgeous mansions. It's also a great part of the chain of three lakes to bike through and gawk. No concession area here, which is maybe a negative, or, depending on your tastes, a positive in that it's less commercial and busy.

“A different experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

AS everyone suggested walking around lake of the isles can be a nice experience. What is better? Kayaking in the lake.

If want to spice stuff up, try the stand up paddle board.

Word of advice: generally the you can get coupons at half the price if u are buying ahead (groupon or amazon local).

“Fabulous retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2014

Relaxing walk around a natural preserve of animal and birds. Just long enough to be invigorating and not exhausting. And when you're done, sit on the grass and have a picnic.

“Lake of the Isles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

We often walk around or kayak through Lake of the Isles. Very pleasant 3 mile walk when weather cooperates. The islands are wildlife sanctuaries so they are to be enjoyed from a distance. We have observed a variety of birds and muskrats and other critters from our kayaks including ducks, geese, pelicans, herons egrets, gulls, fish , turtles, and songbirds. If you walk eastward to 26th and Lyndale you find Common Roots Cafe and other small local eateries to refresh after a nice walk or the Tin Fish can be found by walking southward along the canal to the northeast corner of Lake Calhoun. Unfortunately the water is impaired by Eurasian MIlfoil in some areas.
