“Historic Cemetary”

Here are interred famous people, the city's most prominent, as well as revolutionary, civil war, and later wars, fire and police, and even the circus. Ordinary people of all nationalities. Huge monuments, mausoleums and angels, as well as several chapels. It is a currently active cemetery. There is a lot of bird and animal life to be photographed as well

Beautiful Cemetery, I have quite a bit of my family members there, it's always peaceful and beautiful every time I go and visit.

“An historic and lovely place”

Beautiful historic cemetery between two lakes. Now also the site of an architecturally amazing new mausoleum. I know -- whodathunk a mausoleum could be amazing?

“Great walk through history”

It's a large cemetary with lots of Minnesota historical markers. Be sure to visit the graves of Senator Paul Wellstone, Hubert Humphrey and many others.

“Must see the Memorial Chapel ceiling mosaic.”

The Lakewood Memorial Chapel is awesome. It is often open during the day if there is no funeral. To quote the website of the cemetery, "The chapel interior was created by New York designer Charles Lamb and many consider it the most perfect example of Byzantine mosaic art in the United States." The ceiling has an awesome mosaic view of 12 beautiful angels, each one different.
