Make sure you go to Peace Park, it is lovely. The lakes are a great place to rent a bike, go for a walk, or a swim in the summer. I hear you can skate on the lake in the winter.

We stopped at Lake Harriet (a little out of season) but it was nice and I can only imagine it would be great in the summer time.
...but PLEASE keep your dogs out of the lake! There are a many migratory birds on the lake and there is a lot of bacteria in the water already. Thankfully, the park police is issuing expensive fines to people letting their dogs swim in the lake this year. I walk around the lake every day. Always nice to see the seasons change.
There are a lot of 'walk-a-thon' and running events at this lake which snarl traffic in the neighborhood (parking is limited) which gets very tiring at times. Best time to walk is on a week day evening or morning. Great place to walk the dog and meet neighbors.
A city lake with a historic yacht club where many Minnapolitans learned to sail and race their scows. Looking for a bit of outdoor exercise, the walk around the lake is about three miles of paved walking and biking paths.
