...but PLEASE keep your dogs out of the lake! There are a many migratory birds on the lake and there is a lot of bacteria in the water already. Thankfully, the park police is issuing expensive fines to people letting their dogs swim in the lake this year. I walk around the lake every day. Always nice to see the seasons change.
There are a lot of 'walk-a-thon' and running events at this lake which snarl traffic in the neighborhood (parking is limited) which gets very tiring at times. Best time to walk is on a week day evening or morning. Great place to walk the dog and meet neighbors.

A city lake with a historic yacht club where many Minnapolitans learned to sail and race their scows. Looking for a bit of outdoor exercise, the walk around the lake is about three miles of paved walking and biking paths.

Walking, running, biking, with a dog, a friend, family - whatever you prefer, Lake Harriet provides a beautiful backdrop! Swim in the summer, rent a kayak, paddle board or canoe and enjoy the water. You can bring a picnic and listen to music almost all summer. You can buy snacks from Bread & Pickle during the warm months. And when snow finally falls, you can still get out and exercise, thanks to the plowing of the paths all winter!

I love the bike trail around this lake and other nearby lakes. Minneapolis and St. Paul have many choices when it comes to bicycling, and this is one.
