“Great pub food & drinks but lousy service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Went there with a group & were seated upstairs. The whole place is very pleasant and picturesque. Great food: going around the table, we had a steak sandwich, pot roast, shepherd's pie, bangers & mash, and a cornish pasty - all were very good, beyond expectations. Excellent selections of beer, wine & cocktails. On the minus side, the service was pretty terrible. For example, one of our party asked for a glass of water - never recieved it, finally got it from a different server. Another wanted a second beer, server was never around to order it. Had to wait so long for our check we almost left without paying. To be fair, it looked as if our server had way too many tables, and a friend who had been here before said the service at that time had been brisk and pleasant. Maybe he was having an off day. Would definitely go again.

“A Must for a Minneapolis summer; Movies on the Lawn at Brits”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Last summer, we went to Brit's for the movie on the lawn night:

When we arrived at 8 pm, Brit's was still full of happy hour groups and dinner patrons. We headed straight up the stairs to the patio to grab our seats. Even at 8 pm, the lawn begins to fill up with last-chance movie goers like us. I'd suggest getting there by 8 pm or earlier to claim your territory, enjoy a drink, and meet some new neighbors. Without really thinking through the movie setup, I kept my skirt on from work and didn't bring a blanket. Luckily, Kristin came prepared with a picnic blanket to share.

We went in shifts to go grab a drink, knowing our spot might be claimed if we left. When it was my turn to grab a beer, the patio attendant directed us to the upstairs bar—no line at all. By habit, I ordered without asking about specials. Summit EPA ($5.50). Not bad for a drink downtown. Second time around I was smart enough to ask: Heineken, Amstel Light and Newcastle, $4 on tap.

We all settled back down on the lawn. Lady-movie-goers, heels are not allowed on the turf so I’d suggest wearing flats…Sarah and Kristin learned the hard way. I suppose you boot-wearing men should also take note.

The movie started up a little late, around 8:40. The sound was surprisingly great and the backdrop was picturesque. The movie was projected onto the side of the Double Tree Hotel building and to the left you see a beautiful apartment building covered with ivy. The small-town charm of movies outside is well translated to this urban excursion. Sure beats AMC.

I was so glad we made the Monday Movie happen once before the cold MN weather hit. The summertime high was infectious and it was a cheap night out. Parking, entertainment, beverages and food all for under $20. I hope to get one more viewing in this season if we can find a movie my husband is interested in.

“Happy Hour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We loved this pub. It was a fun, lively place. The food was great - we tried lots of different starters. The rooftop terrace was perfect. We were here on vacation from England and ended up coming here a few times.

“Classic pub style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Nothing like a British pub to complement a rainy spring day. This place is spacious with several choices of seating, depending on whether you want to talk or watch. Decent food, good prices.

“Great Pub Food and Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

Great food and drinks overlooking Nicollett Mall. Brits offers so many feat English food options. The steak sandwich and fish and chips are around my favorites. In the summer they offer a bootleg drink that is like a mojito meets sparkling lemonade. The sidewalk patio and upper deck with lawn bowling make every summer day beautiful and relaxing.
