“Jax Cafe - Very Good But Overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Ambience is beautiful in this decades old fine dining restaurant. Quality of the food was great but a steak with a salad will start at about $42, which when combined with a glass or two of wine and an appetizer will run you close to $70 for just one meal. So if you're looking for a quality meal at a unique place go for it but bring $$$$.

“Great food and atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a classic restaurant. I've been here a few times and went back on a Saturday night for dinner. I ordered the filet with the charbroiled seasoning and it was done to perfection!! I don't normally order desserts but couldn't resist the banana cake with cream cheese frosting. It was fantastic! I would go back for the cake alone! The server was friendly and knowledgable and he was around enough to check on things but I didn't feel like he was trying to rush us out of there. I can't wait to go back!

“dining that brings you back to a time when going out meant something”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

We travel an hour to eat here at least 3 -4 times a year. It has that old school feel with the piano player and coach check lady as it has that FEEL that I can't explain. I guess I see it as an old mob hang out but I hope they never change it.
Food is generally always great and their valentines brunch is a must.
It has a romantic feel if you go as a couple and is a great spot to dine if you are doing a NE pub crawl.

“Old world Romantic indoor & outdoor dining 5 star!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Outdoor dining in this lush professionally landscaped patio is a wonderful date night with the water wheel, waterfall, fireplace and live trout stream in which to catch your dinner if you please. Indoors offers a mafia club house feel with dark wood trim and a grand piano. There is a small bar as well. Special occasion? Rent out a banquet room or the patio or merely have them stamp matchbooks for free with a special saying for you date or specia guests. The food is top notch steakhouse and brunch had more food then you could possibly eat to choose from. The food has always been memorable here. Last week i had their signature T-bone with hash browns. i cant believe i am saying this but the steak was so juicy (marbled) rich hat i could barely eat 1/3 unfortunately matched with the hash browns and it all became a bit to greasy. It was enough to feed 3 people. My date had the filet and it wasn't near as tasty and surprisingly rather liver textured and tasting. At $45-$60 for steak I sure wish they would offer a more affordable petite option for a lessor price as leftover steak just isn't the same. I could afford to go more often if such was offered. I am on the fence tho about dessert here tho, yet jam very, very discerning about such. Overall this is one renowned place you just have to experience once...preferably on the patio or indoors by the fireplace or piano.
