As a reasonably frequent visitor to the US, I had never experienced any food that could be described as "superb" until I went to Mannies last weekend.
Having spent a couple of days in Downtown Minneapolis, the place seemed pretty dead, even though it was St Pattys Weekend. I'd been in a couple of lacklustre restaurants and couldn't figure out where all the locals ate, until I found Manny's!
The joint was jumping. It was packed to the rafters with folks enjoying the finest food in a great setting.
Not only was the fillet Mignon simply the best steak I've ever had the pleasure of consuming, but the portion size was just right - too often before in US steakhouses have I been presented with a couple of pounds of bloody gristle, but not only was this around 10oz of perfectly cooked heaven, but also the accompanying vegetables and fries were packed with flavour and superbly presented.
Wine list was Mega. Oysters were sweet and plump. Serving staff were both uber-professional and quaintly eccentric; a fantastic combination.
Manny's ain't cheap, but it it fantastic value for money, just go there if you're ever in Town!
