We arrived at the Graves for a week long stay that also included 3 days of a business conference. While the entry is somewhat confusing (registration is on the 4th floor) Everyone was friendly and helpful in getting us checked in. Our room was very modern, think VERY upscale Ikea in design. The only thing we found odd was the lack of drawers for undergarments and such. There were shelves, but they were out in the open, as well as 1 of the closets being open and the other being small but conventional. We needed more hangers and they were brought promptly.
One of the reading lights above the bed was not staying on and the staff came right up and appeared to fix it, but said if we had any more problems with it they would replace the built in fixture. Well it did start acting up again, but it was late and we decided to report it in the morning. When we called to report the problem, they asked if 10 minutes was too soon to come and replace the fixture. I was needless to say, impressed.
The bed was hands down the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, including my very expensive bed at home! The bathroom is modern, and the shower is to die for! Top notch soaps/shampoo and such. The room Mini bar is VERY well appointed with *everything* you might *possibly* need when you are staying in a hotel room, and I don't mean just drinks and snack! I'll let others find the surprises! :)
We did have lunch one day in the hotel restaurant/bar area, and while it was very good, it was not cheap either. I guess one should not expect that in a 5 star hotel however. Drink prices at the bar were also expensive but we mostly went to the surrounding night spots for a little bit better prices. The location of the hotel is in the center of the club district, and it was nice being able to go out and have a short walk back to our room.
There were several venues close by that offered nightly live music, Sports venues,, a short tram ride or walk to the Metrodome, as well as being right across the street from the Target center. The new Minnesota Twins baseball stadium is also under construction a block away. There is a large theatre within the same building/block as well as a private spa, restaurants, ice cream, cookie places not to mention Hooters and the Hard Rock Cafe!
The only cons I can come up with is the rather pricey internet access and the lack of drawers for clothes storage.
