Now on view: Women in Soviet Art: focusing on the representation and self-representation of women in Soviet art, this exhibition explores the roles and perspectives of women under the Soviet system from the 1950s–1980s.Jewish Life in the Russian Empire: Exhibited for the first time in 1867 at the seminal ethnographic exhibit in Moscow, the photographs depict a unique record of Jewish life in Tsarist Russia. It tells the story of Jewish communities within the Pale of Settlement, a region where permanent residency of Jewish peoples was allowed. “great photo exhibition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

This was a great multi-medium exhibition. The large oil paintings were impressive and expressed the time period undergoing a change....lots of workers showing Socialism and it's lifestyle, then the photographs in black and white were sharp and stark but revealed the human side of the Russian people. There was also a small display of a Jewish Russian sculptor whose work was mostly done in wood....very detailed.

“Inspiring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012 via mobile

This museum is special. Three floors of art in a beautifully converted church. There is always something interesting and beautiful. The gift shop is worth a stop on its own especially around the holidays. Have been to the museum several times since it's opening. Park across the street for free in a church parking lot. This museum functions as a non-profit and is part of a very large private collection of Russian art. The museum also rents out the space for wedding receptions and meetings. It would be nice if it had a cafe.

“A Tiny Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Each time we visit the TMORA, we always ask why we don't go more often. Every show we have seen there is very high quality and we leave with a new appreciation of the art and artists of the country. The building itself is quite interesting, the gift shop, outstanding, and staff very helpful. And the entrance fee , very low ($7).

“Best Russian art museum outside the homeland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2012

This is one of the best places for viewing framed art that I have ever seen. The museum has great respect for the artists that they display. The gift store is wonderful. New displays cycle through. I have visited a lot of art museums in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. This museum is worthy to partner with all of them. Anxious to visit again.

“Stunning artwork”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012

This small art museum right off 35W at Diamond Lake Road is a true find! Most of the artwork is larger than life in the main room...colorful and depicts 20th century Soviet life. They often have exhibits of photography, art and artifacts in the rooms below and there is a nice little museum shop in the basement.
