“Great little museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is a great museum located on the University of Minnesota campus. It is free, which is always a good thing. The building itself is stunning. It is a small museum, really only one flor, so it will not be an all day affair to check out it out in its entirety. This makes it a great museum for the older kid/teenage set. Some of the permanent exhibits are American Modernism, Korean furniture and ceramics. My favorite exhibit is something that resembles an old apartment hallway. You can stand by each door and listen to what is going on behind the door. We live in Minneapolis and we visit this at least once a year. The museum shop is little, but filled with fun items.

“a surprisingly nice setting, display venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

They always do well. Quiet, broad & open spaces, intriguing exhibits. The natural light in many spots must be artist-perfect, since it's never noticed.

“Gehry's First Museum - Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

This museum is in a great location on the campus of the U of M. The views of and from the building are both spectacular and offer any photo-taker great shots. It was expanded in late 2011, and the added space makes a huge difference. I loved Guy Tillim's photographs of the post-colonial South Africa. Breathtaking. The permanent collection also has a number of treasures - Marsden Hartley, Georgia O'Keeffe, Warren MacKenzie.

Definitely worth a trip!

“Facade looks great, though not enough interesting expositions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012 via mobile

Locationwise is very convenient, right next to the university campus buildings.
Even if you didn't like museum there are other things to do as well.
Building has a unique facade and as a photo freak enjoyed taking pictures. It also has great view of Minneapolis downtown plus Washington ave bridge.
There were a lot of students around and environment felt alive.
Definitely would recommend to any age group
