Owner description: THE GUTHRIE THEATER is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, known for its dynamic productions of classic and contemporary plays. Open to the public year-round, this award-winning cultural destination houses three theaters, dramatic public spaces and distinctive dining. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory." Visit the Guthrie to see a show, grab a cup of coffee and explore the building, shop at the Guthrie Store, or to simply take in the extraordinary riverfront views. Backstage tours are Friday and Saturday mornings.

“Even if you don't go to see a play, check out the endless bridge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Plays are always first class. Most recently we saw Pride and Prejudice with Mad Men's Vincent Kartheiser. Great production with superb acting. But even if you don't go to see a play, go up the very long escalator and walk out on the endless bridge for fantastic views of the Mississippi River and the Stone Arch Bridge. Definitely worth a visit.

“World-class theater and more!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Located in the historic Mill District of Minneapolis, the Guthrie Theater offers world-class theater productions, great views of the city, interesting architecture, many dining options, and a gift shop. There are three stages, three restaurants, and a lounge. The productions range from Shakespeare to the avant garde and are of the highest quality. There are affordable ticket options for each show and every seat in the house is good. I would recommend visiting the theater even if you don't have tickets for a show just for the building itself and the spectacular views of the bridges along the Mississippi river. There are public tours and even costume rentals available. Check the website for the most current ticket information and how to purchase rush tickets.

There are many restaurants and hotels nearby.

Went to the Guthrie for Pride & Prejudice and it was a very pleasent experience. Gorgeous building, comfortable theater and nice, well organized seating. Ushers are very helpful. Would love to visit again when in Minneapolis.

“Gotta get the podcast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

The Guthrie Theater is a gorgeous building in its own right and you could certainly explore its public spaces on your own. Do yourself a favor, though, and download one of the podcasts (search for "Guthrie" in your podcast provider) that will point out the interesting features. There are several podcasts available and the one I chose was interesting, professionally done and humorous. It really brings this building to life.
