My husband and I stayed at this hotel to exhibit at a textile show. The hotel is beautiful and grand. The restaurant food is wonderful. Our only complaint was the room type (no queen beds), only double beds and if you want a room on the higher floor, no king size beds are available on those floors either. Don't pay for internet service, you have it free in the lobby and there are computers there for patron's use. Although we didn't use the cab service from the hotel, but the line gets really long for night trips into the city. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The nice feature on the 25th floor (highest floor) is the executive lounge which offers Continental breakfast in the morning, and hot appetizers 5-7pm and free internet and printer. They charge $35/per night extra for this but might be worth it compared to eating at the restaurant or outside the hotel. All in all, it's a good hotel and the staff are friendly.

I stayed here for a conference this week and really enjoyed the central location (near Hell's Kitchen, Nicollet, and the MTM statue). But, the best feature is the staff, especially the cleaning staff. Friendly and really seemed to care if I was comfortable. Ordered room service two nights because I wasn't feeling great, and it was quick to arrive.

Room Tip: I was on the side facing the Forshay Building and it was a really nice view, day and night.

I stay here every year for a convention and over the years got to know staff and the place well. Some employees have been there 10 years plus and are the friendliest people. Others are overworked and tired, having a bad day--and that happens everywhere.
My only complaints here are:
1: the workout area--the chlorine SMELLS permeate everything. The pool needs a VENT to the outside--even on winter days to alleviate the choke of chlorine in the pool area. I don't like running breathing chlorine fumes. When i'm using the pool I crack a dor to the outside and someone always comes and closes it. This is a health HAZARD and should be taken care of.
2. The OVERPRICED restaurant with simple food costing 15.00 for a SMALL portion of a nothing sandwich, a bowl of cold soup (never HOT because the bowls are frigid!)...etc. When it is cold it is convenient to stay in the hotel for meals but now? We ALL walk outside down the block where there are many great eateries at half the cost and MUCH BETTER fare. Save your money and eat out. Even a cab drive would be cheapaer and better food! After 20 years staying here--you would think they would have a better place to eat!
3. The bathroom is never quite clean enough for me and i always end up self-cleaning. At a high priced Hilton, this is inexcusable but the staff are great and nice--and overworked. so--things get missed. Unfortunate.

Even with these things i STILL prefer this hotel to any other in Mnpls. It is comfy, safe, quiet and central to many destinations downtown.

Room Tip: upgrade to concierge level-worth the price.

Last night was our second stay at the downtown Hilton. You really can't beat the rate for a comfortable stay in the area. They do provide valet parking but we parked in a ramp fright across the street for $5 overnight. There is a skyway between the two for over the winter. Manny's, The Melting Pot, Hell's Kitchen, Shout House etc. are a short walk away. Overall, the rooms were clean, comfortable and the staff was friendly.

Excellent location for Convention access. Best meal - breakfast. Terrific world class restaurants in walking distance. Room was clean, quiet, furniture comfortable and finishings upgraded - standard Hilton room - no extra luxury. Staff was exceptional. Wifi is good. Super Shuttle took 1 1/2 hours to get to this hotel from airport and 30-40 minutes from hotel to the airport.

I am checking out today ( as planned) after 2 sleepless nights because of rowdy neighbors on the executive floor. I called twice to ask for an intervention with the music playing, screaming and yelling, loud-talking, party neighbors. Security told me that they "asked them to be quiet" - they clearly did not comply.
It is unreasonable to allow some guests to make the entire floor uncomfortable.

Room Tip: Can't help you, I did not have a good room

I stayed two nights for a conference. It was a pleasant stay. It's only a 10 minute walk to the light rail station, where you can hop a train to the airport for less than $2. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. The room itself was very comfortable and well appointed. The only reasons I didn't give an excellent rating? A little more attention to detail in cleaning the bathroom could have been taken by housekeeping, and the hotel restaurant is ridiculously priced.
