I stayed overnight at the downtown Hilton for a little 'night out' with the kids. It was fun! We were staying here on HHonors points, which put us on a special HHonors floor with executive lounge access. The room was unremarkable. It was neither stunning nor large, but it was well-maintained and everything worked well. The decor seemed reasonably new and modern, but some elements of the room -- the mirrored closet door, especially -- felt a bit cheaply constructed. But everything was quite clean and satisfactory. I was expecting less, perhaps from reading other reviews here. But it was fine! I would go back without hesitation.
We visited the pool a few times, and it was very fun and well-kept. I meant to order cocktails to the pool area -- a special phone is provided for this purpose -- but I missed my opportunity. I did not enter the health club, but it seemed quite extraordinary, with what seemed like a dozen treadmills and a wide selection of weights and other such items. Very inspirational.
We did not eat at the hotel, but we did visit the executive lounge and enjoy the view and a few cocktails.
If I could recommend a nearby restaurant, take a one-block walk over to the Foshay tower and enjoy a meal and drinks at Keys Cafe. Not expensive, just very simple and delicious. It was just excellent, for dinner or breakfast, and they have a full bar! They were making rounds of bloody marys at 7:45 AM today!
