“Great property and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Have enjoyed a number of stays at this hotel over the last two months. The staff is super-friendly. The rooms are average with a vibe that goes along with the rest of hotel (hate the sinks, love the beds). Location is good with a few neat restaurants nearby, though it is a 20-30 minute walk to the downtown core (shuttle service is free and efficient and bookable though). Would be perfect if heading to the Metrodome as it's only a 5 minute walk. No free breakfast for SPG but the "cafe" in the lobby is neat and has everything you need.

Overall would certainly stay here again.

I was helping to throw a huge event for a bunch of Italians, with many components coming together at the last minute. I booked a room, knowing that I'd be exhausted and didn't want to worry about the 45-minute drive home that night.
To begin, the staff-- Brian, Chris, Caroline,Troy, and others-- were wonderful. Helpful. Professional. Calm yet upbeat. As far as food events go, they could use one tiny little sink near the event room (c'mon, even a boring conference needs water pitchers refilled), but otherwise, the space and open areas around it worked beautifully. The bar is lovely, vibrant, and very cool. It is worth a visit, even if you are not staying at the hotel.
As for the room, this is a "concept" hotel, which translates to "really open, including the bathroom, and pretty close quarters." I woke up thinking about a huge event piece I couldn't account for (its whereabouts), and wanted to roll over and call the front desk to see if someone tucked it away. The room phone had no standard "front desk" button. It was just a plain Uniden or something handset. Luckily, I had a smartphone, had to look up aloft online, then called the hotel's main number. But sheesh. There was also a familiar but unusual and pervasive smell throughout the halls and in the room -- car air freshener? Glade? It wasn't totally unpleasant, but it felt as if something was being covered up. It got a little cloying. There is no room service, although they have a "refuel" station in the lobby that is a step up from vending machines, but not quite a Brueggers or similar spot. Good coffee.
Having said all that, the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in, the room was blissfully quiet, the staff were super accommodating, and, if we host the event here again, I will stay overnight! Longer stays may not be as comfortable as other Mpls options.
But definitely stop into the bar for a visit.

This was my first Aloft experience and I enjoyed the stay. It is a long walk to the downtown area but the Old Stone Bridge is close as well as the old mill district. Nice rooms and amenities. Lobby staff were cheerful and friendly. Great bookstore and comic book store across the street. Would stay here again.

I usually love staying at Aloft Hotels. When i arrived to the hotel, it was around 1am and the parking structure was "full" even though there were multiple cars coming out of it. So we had to park in the back where it was dark and not a good area to be unloading at 1am. Went to check in and the gentlemen at the front desk was very eager to get us out of his way. I asked for any food options since we traveled all day and were very hungry and he said they had no restaurant near by or anything else to recommend. That was satisfying! The staff was unfriendly to say the least. We just wanted to get out of there and go The Hotel Ivy the next night, which made this place seem like an Economy Inn. Sorry, but we will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Don't come hungry and be prepared for the staff to want to get you in and out.

My husband and I along with another couple recently spent a night at this hotel for a game at the Metrodome. The location is perfect - just block away. We have stayed at other Aloft properties, and this one was just as we expected. Our room and the common areas were clean. Our only complaint was in terms of the bed and pillows. The mattress was HARD (and this is coming from people who like a firmer bed) and the pillows were way too soft. We were concerned about the noise level as clearly this is a popular hotel for people going to the game, but it was quiet in the rooms.

Everyone at this hotel was super friendly. The hotel is in a very convenient location to the Guthrie Theater. No shuttle from the airport, but the light rail stop is only 2 blocks away. The hotel does have a free shuttle that drove me everywhere I wanted to go (within a 5 mile radius - remember to tip!).

Rooms are "modern" with lots of ways to connect your devices to the tv (bring your own cables, though). The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Great gym area. Fast reliable wifi (for a hotel, at least) - I was attending a conference at the Guthrie where wifi was awful - came back to the hotel to get work done.

Parking tip: If you just need to park your car and don't need in/out, just park in the Guthrie deck. It's $8/day as opposed to the $15/day through the hotel.

We were there to attend a concert and it was a surprise for our daughter, we were impressed how the whole staff (even the shuttle driver) were able to keep the secret! The staff were fun and very nice, I highly recommend this hotel and will be back.
