“Nice, modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

My Wife and I stayed here the night we got engaged. Great location, great room (although pretty small), very clean, nice staff. The hotel looked modern, and has a restaurant which we didn't try but looked good. Must say again that this hotel looks very nice. If the room was bigger and more than just a bed I would go 5 stars, but this is a nice place.

Room Tip: unsure of the views from some rooms, i would ask if this matters to you.

My dad and I did a guys' hoops weekend. I booked the hotel through an internet service where you don't know the name of the hotel until booking. I had never stayed there before. Even though the pictures did it justice, I was blown away upon arrival. It is beautiful with a blend of an architectural gem, an old bank building complete with marble columns and vault, brought up to date with color, texture, and great lighting. The main floor which consists of one big area that has been divided up includes a sitting area, two lobbies, restaurant, and bar. It is gorgeous. We spent a little time in the restaurant and bar. Restaurant brunch was extra ($17 per person), a little pricey but typical for downtown and was OK food. Bar happy hour was great, $5 wines by the glass, and reasonable small plates and pizza.

The room was a little small, bathroom was huge. Beautiful glass shower. Beds were amazing. Supportive, but very soft, comfortable, and great for sleeping. Hotel rooms were MUCH more quiet than I was anticipating. HDTV channels and HDTV.

Great value, great sleeping!

There were four of us in a room with two queen beds and it was comfy enough and large enough for the rest of our group to hang out in. (7 of us total) I had requested a tub/shower combo through my hotels.com reservation and was granted that..the bathroom was huge! The view was nothing special, some office buildings and what not, but since it was the weekend and we were going out anyways we didn't mind. We paid the $30 for valet parking and also took advantage of the $7 town car 'taxi' to get to our destinations. Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Corner rooms have a ton of windows!

Just got home from a great weekend in Minneapolis with friends. Cold temperatures notwithstanding, we really enjoyed our stay here. Got a great deal thru a website booking, relishe the comfortable and clean rooms and classy lobby, and gratefully accepted the help of the valet and concierge staff. The car service was an unexpected bonus, and we traveled in style for very reasonable fares. Our only complaint is that our rooms were not attended to during our two night stay. Whether or not the beds get made is immaterial to me, but I must have replacement coffee! :) Luckily, a manager quickly brought us more supplies when we requested assistance. Anyway, give this lovely hotel a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Three friends and I had a great stay here this past weekend. We booked a good deal through an online site. The hotel is very beautiful, with excellent service. We were warmly greeted upon arrival. We loved the friendly valet team and since it was hovering around zero all weekend, we made extensive use of the town car service. We waited 1-5 minutes for a car each time we went out & we had lovely and conversational drivers each time. The rooms have high ceilings with eclectic layouts, which I liked. The beds were extremely comfortable. One of the rooms we booked had a lovely large glass shower. One room faced the front of the hotel & had 3 gorgeous windows. The other faced the back & had one window. All of our interactions with staff were great and the room felt luxurious. Three things I would note: there are certainly plenty of places in Minneapolis to go for a scene, which we did, but if you are looking for it in your own hotel, this may not be the place - lobby and bar both were fairly empty all weekend. Second, when we came back at 3:30 for a nap before our evening out, our rooms hadn't been cleaned (we had left them at 10). Third, as others have said - it does feel a bit away from the main downtown area. It IS very close to the light rail, etc., so the location thing may or may not be an issue for you. Also the blinking smoking alarm light others have mentioned is quite noticeable, so pack an sleeping mask if this will bother you. All in all, an excellent hotel and I would absolutely return here on future visits and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Ask for an outfacing room if you care about view.

Upon a recommendation of a colleague I stayed at the Hotel Minneapolis. The temps were hovering around zero, so the valet was the only option for parking as far as I was concerned. Upon entering the lobby, you knew you stepped into an earlier age, though everything about the place was 21st century. The hotel is in the former Midland Bank Building. Huge marble columns, ornate ceilings (had to be 30 feet), and even the obligatory vault with the door swung open, lends to the character of the place. The staff was courteous and answered my questions about the history of the property. My room was up to Marriott standards. Clean, comfortable, a real stall shower and fully tricked out with all the things business travelers demand. I am a Marriott Platinum and requested a room on the concierge level, which was accommodated. The fitness center is on the same level and has all you need for a solid work out while on the road. The concierge lounge is quite large, very comfortable and fully stocked with plenty of drinks and munchies. Breakfast offers pretty much everything you need to get the engine started for your day. The lounge is staffed by a very friendly group that dotes on their guests. This is now my new go to property in the Twin Cities.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 10th floor (Concierge Level). Some rooms are larger than others, so make sure to...

Hotel is beautiful with lots of charm & character. Upon checking in the staff was extremely helpful & friendly! We did valet our vehicle which was a nice touch in the subzero weather. Valet was quick and professional. The room itself was great! Very high ceilings which made the room feel larger than it actually was. The bathroom was a pleasant surprise. Very modern decor & the shower was massive! Never heard any outside noise from the hallway. Perhaps it was due to the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. I would have given this hotel 5 stars, but like the previous review I found this hotel's location a tiny bit out of the way(a block or two from the hub); since the purpose of our stay was a concert downtown. Would book this hotel again.
