We visited on Friday, April 6, 2012 around noon. For lunch there is counter service, so you get a paper menu and wait to order at the counter/cash register. They give you a metal stand with a number that you place on your table for the wait staff to then bring your order when ready. Large, airy space with comfortable tables and chairs; there is even a waterfall feature on the far wall. I ordered the Rachel, my adult son had the crab cakes and my adult daughter had the sandwich special of the day, a turkey croissant. Each order comes with a small field greens salad.
The Rachel had family-farm (Ferndale Market) raised free-range turkey, in-house made sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and in-house made thousand island dressing on rye; then quickly toasted in the wood-stone oven. This was so, so, so very good! It was light, yet filling. Savory, yet sweet. I would highly recommend this.
My son's crab cakes were made with jumbo lump crab, sauteed cucumbers, herbs and a saffron-garlic aioli. I sampled my son's and these were great! Two very generous portions with so much crab and little to no filler. These tasted better than any crab cake I've ever had on the coasts! To think...here in Minnesota.
My daughter's turkey croissant was made with the same turkey as my sandwich, Swiss cheese, tomato, leaf lettuce and mayonnaise. She was very pleased with the fresh flavors of this!
The side salads of field greens on each plate were dressed with a very light dressing that allowed the fesh flavor of the greens to shine!
The Rachel $8.25; the crab cakes $15.00; the turkey croissant $8.50. The beverages were Spring Grove Grape soda $2.75; Boylan Diet Black Cherry soda $2.50 and Frostop Root Beer $2.75. With tax our total was $42.31. (I left a cash tip in the jar at the counter). A little pricey for lunch, but well worth every penny! These people take pride in their food, offer fresh quality, and superb flavors.
