We had what could have been a pretty bad experience at Granite City was turned around by the actions of the manager, Bob. I dined with a large family group, 4 adults and 2 preschoolers. As usual, they got the kids' meals out very quickly, but that was the only part of the meal that was timely. We waited about another 25 minutes for our appetizer and 45 minutes for the entrees: pasta, a burger and a salad. None of those choices should take long to prepare. The problem that evening was clearly in the kitchen. Of course, the kids got antsy and a little loud as they sat and sat, having finished their food. The manager was made aware of the situation and handled it well. Along with apologizing for the delay, he made it clear that our server was not to blame, and in so doing, preserved a good tip for her. We were "taken care of" well and and a result , we will return. This is a restaurant we visit often and we have never experienced any delays before this. The food is consistently very good as is the service. Now we know they handle problems appropriately too and show genuine concern that their customers are treated right. Thanks, Bob, we'll be back.
