Food is great and reasonable prices. Room are less than I would expect at their prices (although I stayed using a Groupon). Bed was horrible. Carpets dirty. DirectTv but only a very small flat screen to watch. Upon check in, nobody at front desk. I had to find somebody in the bar area who had to find somebody to assist. One of our rooms was so hot wad to open a window to cool down. The other room was very cold.
Whirl pool is small (three people max), water level too low and the room smelled musty.
The place needs updating but might be ok for those only looking for a bed after sledding, fishing or enjoying the lake. I won't be returning unless it is only for dinner.

Room Tip: Perhaps we were in "older" rooms because of Groupon but if staying, ask for first floor (n...

Thank you for taking the time to fill out this guest review. Manhattan Beach Lodge is a historic lodge on Big Trout Lake of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes and was built in 1929. The principal goal of our lodge is to provide dependable service to all of our guests. Consequently, it's disappointing to learn of the issues you experienced within your room and with some of the service you received. We have notified our Housekeeping staff of the issues you experienced as well as our Front Desk staff and our Pool Maintenance Department.

Please accept our sincere apology.

I want you to know that the comments and suggestions we receive from our guests are taken seriously. They tell us what we're doing right, what we're doing wrong and how we can improve. Your willingness to share your recent experience is genuinely appreciated.
We are happy to hear you had a pleasant experience in our restaurant and are excited to have you come dine with us again.

We stayed one night while in the area for a wedding, so we didn't use the dining room or any of the resort amenities, but I wish I'd had time to try out the free snowshoes! Our room overlooked the lake, and the view was so lovely and relaxing. The area is heavily wooded with many pine trees. The room was comfortable, though basic, and the "north woods" furnishings lent a rustic appeal.

For the price, I thought this north woods lodge would be cozier and more inviting for the price. We had a standard room and that's all it was. No fridge or microwave. The bathroom fan rattled and the room was ice cold when we walked in from the chilly outdoors. Ordered the champagne and chocolates option as a surprise for my beau, but they forgot to leave it which was a bit of a bummer. It took about an hour for them to deliver it. The lakeshore looked lovely from our window; that was the most pleasant part. For $165, I'll try a different place.

We appropriate your feedback on your stay. We are very sorry about the issue your experienced. We understand that it was an oversight on our part with your in room champagne and chocolates. We have spoken with staff and have implemented a new procedure on how to handle upcoming reservations with special requests.

We went up there for the first time with the Living Social deal. Couldn't have had a better trip! We were there for 4 nights and by day two we knew all the staff-who were incredible, even to our rather hyper puppy.
The restaurant had the best clam chowder we have ever had, and even saved some for my fiancee when they ran out :-)
The rooms were really clean and seemed to have been updated.
The sunsets are gorgeous! They encourage the guests to use the fire pits, and the docks (we brought our boat). This is definitely our new summer spot!
Thanks you guys!

We had a great vacation from Sun.-Thurs. We used the living socials deal with a gift certificate to Manhattan's. Every room faces Big Trout Lake. The staff were very polite and friendly. Manhattan's restaurant had very good food. We hope to go again next summer.

Room Tip: There is no elevator in this lodge. We chose the second floor so we wouldn't hear people walkin...

My daughter got married at the Manhattan Beach Lodge, Sat June 8th. We had about 140 people in attendance and the venue fit our needs perfectly. Crystal the planner did an outstanding job and event was a huge successful. The ceremony was performed on the beach/dock and provided a very intimate setting. We had at least 50 individuals come up to me and my wife and say it was the greatest wedding they had attended had attended a the perfect venue for a private wedding. As "wedding costs" go, it was very reasonable. I would highly recommend to everyone.

I love the vintage upnorth feel of this place (with updated amenities). I spent a rainy night there, but still was enchanted by the lake view. The windows open to let in the sounds of the loons. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Beautiful boating, walking and biking is right out side the door. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: The rooms with decks are the best.
