“Peaceful retreat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2011

We stayed in the carriage house at the Habberstad House B & B which was wonderful. We had tons of room, breakfast was delivered to us-which was to die for!! Nancy needs to do a cookbook :)!! We were biking in the area and so enjoyed coming back to our own private entrance, enjoyed a glass of wine and the jacuzzi, then went to a couple of great restaurants for dinner the 2 nights we were there. Dave and Nancy are gracious hosts and were so helpful and kind. We can't wait to go back-highly recommend for couples looking for time away!

My wife and had spent the night here and had a great time. The house was lovely and the food was great. We loved our room. The grounds are very pretty and well maintained. We had a delicious breakfast including fruit, a rhubarb tort that was delicious and Dutch pancakes that we really enjoyed. The hosts were delightful. We really enjoyed our conversation with the other guests and the hosts. We laughed and talked for close to two hours.
The house is in easy walking distance from shops, restaraunts, river and the bike trail.
We really enjoyed our stay and we would return.

Exuding charm both within and without the Habberstad House is a polished gem. The manicured lawn and gardens are inviting with many seating possibilities whether your preference is a swing, lawn furniture under an arbor, on the grounds / porch/ patio/ balcony. We have been able to enjoy bike/canoe trails, the delightful town of Lanesboro and return to the Habberstad's comfy surroundings and wonderful innkeepers, Nancy and Dave who besides good conversation also provide good a wonderful gourmet breakfast. You won't be disappointed in your decision to stay at the Habberstad House.

Room Tip: Our favorite room is the Scandinavian room !

Can't say enough about how great our stay was. The rooms were all very nicely (think elegant, not gaudy) decorated as was the house. The breakfasts were better than I could have possibly imagined or hoped for and catered to my husband’s allergies. The hosts were perfect, not intrusive but fully supportive and helpful – lots of knowledge of the area and where to go for different outings. And the surroundings inside and out were so peaceful I could have spent many more days there…

Room Tip: Amish room is perfect if you need room to work too

My husband and I spent a lovely weekend, celebrating our anniversary at Habberstad House. The home is exquisite, the food fabulous, and the hosts friendly, informative, and welcoming. We did a "room tour" with our other guests, and found all the rooms to be individualized and lovely. We stayed in the Orchid Room which was extremely lovely and comfortable. I have stayed at a few of the B & B's in Lanesboro, and this one is a stand-alone. Lovely interiors, decorated very tastefully. The exterior porch is great for sitting with morning coffee, or an evening glass of wine. The landscaped yard draws in the birds, butterflies and singing frogs and toads. A stay that stays with you.

Lanesboro is the sweetest little town. We love to bike here (miles of wonderful bike paths) or canoe the rivers, or simply walk around the town. We enjoy shopping the cute little shops. One not to miss is Frank Wrights Spoon Shop on Coffee Street. His spoons are works of art, both whimsical and useful. Our favorite restaurant is the Old Village Hall. And we love getting massages at the Prana.

THE place to stay is the Habberstad. Of course there is victorian charm and beautiful grounds, as well as scrumptuous breakfasts, and relaxing hot tubs. But what makes this B&B this best are the hosts Dave and Nancy. They are available to help with reservations, tickets, directions, maps, bike storage, and anything else you might need. Nancy is theatrical and fun. Dave is knowledgible and kind. They are really wonderful people. Plus they pull off a gourmet breakfast with the greatest of ease. We always feel so well taken care of when we stay here.
