Because this resort is small and tucked away, it is not well known, and that may be intentional--they seem to attract plenty of guests anyway. The property is immaculate, the cabins simple, the charms basic, the attractions timeless. Trails, marked with signs pointing out burial mounds, forest regeneration patterns, and why dead trees are left to rot (to sustain various wild creaturest), wind through hardwood forests, giving easy glimpses of deer, woodpeckers (saw six different species in an hour's walk) and breeding loons. The property is small enough that young kids can roam, large enough that you can take a two hour hike and barely see another guest. The swimming lake clean and easy to monitor.
The restaurant is so good it's almost too much, but since it's included in the price who's to complain? Don't come here to party, but if you like good food, good drink, and think nature should be at the center of a Minnesota vacation, then this is a great place. My ten year old loves it here, and so do her parents.
