“Can't beat the view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Bay Side is one of my favorite spots to enjoy a cocktail and watch the boats. The food is average but the atmosphere more than makes up for it!

“I'd rather go hungry than eat there again.......”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012 via mobile

We gave Bay Side a second chance.....ugh, another HUGE disappointment. After reading several other reviews which included the same negative experiences we had, I decided to write this review.

We went for breakfast. We were a family of 6. After placing our order, we waited 1 hour before we were served. Several tables around us ordered after we did and were served before us. None of the food was warm. Two of us sent our Eggs Benedict back as the eggs and ham were actually cold. They microwaved the food and brought it back. One of the eggs was still cold. I took it to the kitchen (a scary, dirty place) and told the manager the egg was cold. She shouted at me, grabbed the egg from my hand and told an employee to microwave it again. Our entire table was disappointed in the meal and attitude of the restaurant.

Never an apology. Never an offer to discount the bad food or a 'next time' credit to make up for the horrid experience. Where is the customer service and training? Great view and that's it....

BTW....After seeing the kitchen I would never go back...i wonder the last time health officials inspected it.

“great location and view, awful food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We have biked to Excelsior many times and usually eat at Maynard's or just stop for a snack at Adele's. This time we decided to check out this place, despite the mixed reviews. We got a nice booth with a view of the deck and the water, and the waitress was very friendly, so all seemed great. The menu was limited to burgers, sandwiches and salads, and a couple of more exotic sounding items. It was one of the colder days and rainy, so we were looking for a soup but there was none on the menu. There were four of us and we ended up ordering 7 different foods, but all were terrible. The worst was the "rice paper" around the shrimp spring rolls, it was so thick and hard that all of us agreed it was completely inedible. There were two pieces of walleye in my fish taco, they were chewy and cold, and there was not much else in it. A few tomato pieces, lettuce, and sour cream - difficult to mess this one up but they did. Ice cold and completely tasteless. Our 12-year-old was so disappointed of both of his dishes, he was on the verge of tears. He only ate his french fries, and he is not a picky eater. We left still hungry and very disappointed. The bill was around 80 dollars - way too expensive for this kind of food, even considering the nice view.

“All around horrible!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

First time we went to Bay View was our last! We ended up not paying for our meal or drinks it was so horrible. Brown lettuce, cheap over fried fries, stomach churning margaritas, and all drinks in plastic cups! To top it off, horrible service from a maybe just legal kid.

I will never understand why just because a restaurant is on the lake they feel they can get by with sub-par service and food at best! All of us work hard for our money and we as consumers need to take a stand and say NO MORE!!!

“We live on the lake and this is always the last place on our list to visit”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We have tried several times to eat here, giving them chance after chance and it is quite obvious that their "customer service policy" has gone by the wayside. Let me preface, we eat out a lot, aren't picky and are pretty darn laid back. But it seems everytime we are there, it is some issue...cold food, really slow food times(contant problem), order mistakes followed up with the waitperson disagreeing....and even on one occasion, we stopped in during a tornado siren, seeking coverage and a meal and were told to leave because my husband didn't have his shirt on (we had run in from the boat with our two small children and the shirt was a low priority/the kids being the first)...we had to leave, walk back out into the storm because he didn't have a shirt on. No we won't be going again.
