“Great Local Brew Pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

Went for dinner and they had an all you can eat Walleye special. The fish was great and surprisingly not too greasy. When I asked for something less starchy as a side, the waitress quickly offered to ditch the potatoes and double the vegetables.

They brew their own beer and generally have a half a dozen brews to select from. I tried the blueberry ale and it was very nice.

Overall - a great value, great brew pub food.

“Stick with the basics!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2014

While the beer is wonderful (blueberry blond and IPA especially), the new menu comes off as exciting on paper but strangely confusing on the plate. I appreciate fusion cuisine but cheddar cheese on naan bread with deep fried fish sitting on top? The broccoli slaw was overrun with white pepper. Our family had the sweet potato fries ( greasy), grandson's Mac and cheese nuggets were likewise greasy and we could not find the mac in the cheese! The cheese tortillini was more like soup than a pasta dish- would suggest go back to reliable un-fused bar food!!! You rock with the beer- keep that flowing!

“Amazing Beer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

We recently traveled Portland and the West coast frequenting craft breweries along the way. We feel that the Boathouse's beer is every bit as delicious! The Oatmeal Stout is my husbands favorite, I favor the IPA's or ESB's! We find the food to be consistently good and the bartenders to be friendly and attentive. No trip to the cabin is complete without a trip to the Boathouse!

“Local Fave”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

Service here has always been terrific and comfortingly low-tech: ask about the beers and your server will probably consult a hand-written list. The beers are generally excellent, as the founders came here from Fitger's, a 100-year-plus dynasty in Duluth. The smoked porter, any IPA including the rye, and oatmeal stouts are particular favorites. The Boathouse has recently changed their menu, and it's still evolving, but you're probably going to enjoy whatever you order. It's a good place to take big groups such as Boy Scout troops or family reunions.

“Great beer.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

The brews from this brew house were really good. Had a smoked porter and Amber ale. Food was also great. I didn't have it but others inn my group had the walleye tacos and said they were wonderful.
