“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

I ordered Mekong Experience...it was an experience! The menu does not mention that the vegetables are raw. To add to that they left the string on the snap peas which left every bite very unpleasant. I mentioned it to the hostess and she barely acknowledged me. Did not even get a discount. Never go there again.

“Successful in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We met friends here, and none of the four of us had dined here before. We wanted to try a Vietnamese place, and when we got there saw their logo is "Contemporary Asian Restaurant" and that IS more accurate, given the Thai, Japanese and other types of food on the menu. There's a short bar inside. The dark wood chairs and tables inside contrasted with the pale walls, creating a peaceful serenity. But it was a beautiful July evening so we decided on a table outside under an umbrella. While it's on the edge of a parking lot, beautiful planters and trellises block most of the view and direct your attention back to your table. The full menu -- food and bar -- is available outside.

One of our party ordered the sake flight. It arrived chilled, when she prefers room temp, but kept it and enjoyed it more as it warmed up. Two of us ordered the Singha beer and enjoyed it.

We had the Monsoon dumplings and tofu puffs for appetizers. I thought the dumplings were blah, though my companions liked them. But the tofu puffs, we each could have made a meal of.

The four of us chose these dishes: Roadside Smokey Plate, Tamarind Rice Trio, Chatty Bowl Noodles, Rice Paper Pad Thai. We each loved our choices. They were the right mix of vegetables, rice or noodles, wonderful broth and sauces. Their version of pad thai is not hot but is room temperature, and they tell you this beforehand.

Our server was friendly without being too familiar, and seemed to show up exactly when we needed her. She was knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions in that way that says you don't have to agree. This is the kind of place where they don't address you as "you guys".

The ladies' room is new, clean, well-maintained.

The restaurant has the same street address as D'Amico's, which is confusing. To find Rice Paper, either walk straight through D'Amico's to the exit in the back which empties into a corridor where there's a door for The Rice Paper, or outside of the front of D'Amico's go left around the corner and down about half a block to Rice Paper's main entrance.

Rice Paper succeeds in every way: divine food with just the right size portions and amazing flavors, a visually beautiful setting, good beverages, friendly yet crisp service. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

“Great meal, great service, amazing tofu puffs!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Really high quality stuff at decent prices (although most $ I've spent on lunch in quite some time. Tofu puffs were loved by the entire table. Dumplings really yummy as well. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

“Not what it use to be”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

I do not usually do reviews of restaurants near my home town, but this suburban restaurant Is nowhere what it was when located in Minneapolis! The setting is fine, sat outside on a patio that was essentially on a parking lot. The food was totally lacking. Lots and lots of rice and very little of what you thought you were getting for the entree. I would recommend this only for people who were trying to carbo load as mostly what you get is rice!

“Excellent food and atmostphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Tasteful and interesting Vienamese food. Reasonably priced for what you get. Quiet, good service. Calming. Flavors are excellent. Will return.
