“Amazing Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2010

Our stay at the AG Thomson House was top notch. We were skeptical of all the glowing reviews but we must say they are spot on.

Tim & Angie are wonderful hosts and the mansion is warm and inviting. While we stayed they were decorating for the holidays. If you aren't in the Christmas mood when you arrive, you will be! The house is decked out--inside and out.

The room was very well appointed with all the amenities. The extra large whirlpool and fireplace make for a very romantic and comfortable stay. And the breakfast is beyond description.

All the great reviews are deserved. Tim and Angie have found their calling. The inn is truly a special place!

From the moment we were greeted at our car to the smiles and waves at departure, we were swept into the comfort and care of Tim and Angie, our hosts. The mansion is non-stop gorgeous with an eye to every detail and need. The breakfasts were stellar and recipes were happily offered. Our room was a perfect combination of historical pride and modern ammenities. The house begs to be used as your own. The location is perfect, combining the view of Lake Superior, the delight to be "at the top of the hill" and yet close enough to shop, hike, and find the perfect restaurant waiting in or out of town. We completely recommend the A.G. Thomson House and look forward to returning soon.

You have to check the A.G. Thomson house out sometime! It's charming, romantic, well-kept, cozy, and incredibly welcoming. My husband and I had talked about taking in a B&B experience, but had yet to do it, so for our anniversary, he wanted to take on the planning role for our little getaway during a very hectic time. He researched and made the reservation with Tim and Angie; all I knew was what type of things to pack, nor did I know where we were going until we got there. We were warmly welcomed, given an overview, and were off to our spacious yet cozy room, inclusive of a fireplace, 2-person hottub, mini-fridge, comfy bed, and a wonderful view of Lake Superior. While tucked away at the end of a street, it was conveniently located to restaurants, shopping, and many sights.

The owners, Tim and Angie, were perfect midwest hosts...there when you needed them, yet not if/when you wanted to be alone. Not to mention, great cooks...the breakfasts and evening treats were amazing.

It will be tough to top our first B&B experience, so we will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone!

AJ Thomson was the perfect "getaway" for us. We were celebrating some precious mother/daughter time, along with my daughter's sweet 16th birthday. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend. The home was absolutely beautiful, and so comfy and inviting. We felt so pampered and taken care of. It was a perfect way to forget the busy-ness and chaotic schedules of life, and just enjoy time together, talking over a warm mug by the fire. This will be a wonderful lasting memory for us, and Angie and Tim make every effort to deliver just that. AJ Thomson is a "must" stay!! I know we hope to return.

Tim and Angie are amazing! My husband and I went up to Duluth over his R&R from Iraq so we could have a romantic getaway and some time to ourselves. This was everything we could have imagined and more! The inn was absolutely beautiful, breakfast was delicious (I have dreams about the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins!) and our hosts really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We don't make it up to Duluth often, but the next time we get the chance, we know we will be at the Thomson House...it was perfect!
