“Very dated hotel, badly needs serious renovation and a resurfaced parking area!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

Based on our first impressions, I would have been inclined to give this hotel one star. However, our room was very clean and quiet, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. We were surprised that the prices were similar to many of the Holiday Inn Express locations, considering how dated it is. Apparently, prices in Duluth are very high during the summer, so presumably it was a fair value. It is also well-located.

Clean hotel, nice staff, good breakfast available, not too far from attractions. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality for this star level. Will definitely recommend for travelers on a budget.

About 10 min from camel park, nice little free breakfast small pool good for little kids not to far from miller mall for shopping and lots of food places near by. Room was nice clean with fridge and microwave. Workers seemed nice and friendly!

Overall the hotel was good however the price we paid for a one night stay on the weekend was expensive. The location isn't the greatest but there is a good mexican restaurant within walking distance. The breakfast was good. Beside pricing everything else was good.

The good: Everything is very clean. Our room had new carpeting and linoleum. The shower had nice water pressure and the water got plenty hot. Noise from other rooms can't be heard much, especially with the fan from the unit on. The desk clerk was friendly.

The bad: The parking lot is full of really big potholes. The WiFi is very slow, at least from my room. The drain in the sink was almost completely clogged.

Room Tip: Ask for a north- or south-facing room, if possible. The sun comes in very brightly.

My husband, son, and I stayed here basically just for a place to crash. We were visiting relatives for a graduation party that live about 15-20 minutes out of Duluth. Pulling up to the hotel, it did not look like much, but it was pouring rain and we just wanted to get inside.

I was very surprised by our room. The carpet, bed linens, and furniture were all updated and modern. It was clean and tidy. The only thing that wasn't update was the bathroom, which was a little small with vinyl flooring circa 1990, but it was still clean and did the trick.

I thought the beds were comfortable and we had a quiet room. We all slept well.

The breakfast the next morning was also more than I expected: waffles, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, cereal, muffins, toast, bagels, English muffins, coffee, juice, and some fruit. The breakfast staff was busy changing things out and bringing in fresh food. I always like to see that.

The pool was not bad, either. The hot tub was pretty big and was not scalding hot, and the big pool was nice and warm. We have a 4-year-old son who loves pools, so it was really nice to be able to take him swimming and not have him shivering and freezing cold within five minutes of being in there.

Any staff I talked to was helpful and nice.

Overall, don't expect luxury standards with this hotel, but if you're just passing through and need a place to crash, this should do the trick. Like some others have said, it might not look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. They have actually done a nice job with restoring the interior.

I think that this hotel may have gone through a recent remodel, based on the reviews I have been reading.
