In reading prior reviews of this hotel (before booking the room), there didn't seem to be much middle ground -- other reviewers tended to love or hate this property. We had a comfortable stay for 4 (2 adults, 2 toddlers) over this past weekend. Here's my take: we paid a very attractive price for our room (prepaid with a credit card a few weeks in advance from a travel web site) when compared to similar area hotels with pools. The property is up on the hill south of the city by the Spirit Mountain ski area, so you're a few miles away from downtown venues you might be in town to visit (but if you're skiing, then you're right there). The parking/layout of the hotel is a bit weird since the hotel is built on a hillside. Lower parking lots are restricted to 4WD vehicles during winter months, which means you might have to park your car and walk a couple of hundred feet if you're not one of the first 30-40 arrivals on any given night and don't have a 4WD vehicle (not a problem for us, there are two check-in/unloading parking spaces in front of the hotel lobby). Entry to the hotel (when checking in) is on the 2nd floor maybe 20 steps down to the entry door from that upper parking lot. Weird? Yes. Insurmountable? No. We were assigned a room on the third floor, east end and arrived late, so noise was not a problem for us, neither from other rooms on our floor nor the room below us. The pool is on the first floor. The separate room with the hot tub is down the hall from the pool and children under age 10 aren't allowed in there, so for adults with young children you're going to have to use it one at a time while the other parent stays with children if you must use it (we chose not to use it and weren't that broken up about it). The continental breakfast area is small and the popular time to eat seems to be between 8:30-9:30am, but outside of those hours seating shouldn't be an issue (breakfast runs from 6:00-10:00). It's standard continental breakfast fare and I had no complaints either with the food available nor the person who restocked everything. In fact, all of the staff were very nice to us. There was no evidence from any staff member of disinterest or unpleasantness or lack of helpfulness. Checking in and out was a breeze. I read some previous reviews that complained about "all of the rules" and that the hotel "wasn't team friendly", which to me is ParentSpeak for "We want to drink with the other adults in our rooms and will just let our kids run wild while we are enjoying ourselves." I can tell you that I didn't have to worry about marauding bands of young hockey players running up and down the hallways or any shouting/screaming (I think that I'm qualified to say this having had three of my own children go through a dozen years of youth hockey programs and coaching their teams for many years myself). At check in, the lady at the desk simply told us "no hockey sticks can come in the building". Seemed reasonable to me. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. I would certainly consider staying here again.
