“Nice location for 4th of July”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We stayed here on the 4th of July. The rates were much better than other hotels on the this popular Holiday in Duluth. Our check in was fast, and perfect. Our room was small, and could use some updating. There is only 2 elevators for this hotel, and it has 15 floors, so the wait can be long at times. The parking lot was full, so we had to park in a lot across the street, that they also use, when their parking lot is full. Our car was damaged in the back/fender area, but I suppose this could happen anywhere. We did not eat at the restaurant on the top floor, however, we went up there to take a look at it, and it looked very nice, and the staff could not have been nicer, when we said we we just wanted to check it out. We did go to the pub downstairs, and that was very nice, and the bartender/waitress, couldn't have been any nicer. We were engaged at this hotel 35 years ago, so it was fun to go back. We will give this hotel another try. I believe, if they update the rooms, this hotel could have a potential to be quite nice.

Room Tip: We had a lakeside room. We were able to see ships go in & out, and watch the 4th of July traffi...

What a view and exceptional service! My husband and I traveled with our 3 little boys for a mid week stay. As you will see in other reviews, this hotel is a bit dated but I can encourage you to be excited about the renovations that are coming. We were lucky enough to stay in their presidential suite which has gone through the upgrades and it was beautiful. Clean and comfortable with modern decor. Aaron an employee of the hotel made sure we were settled in and comfortable. It was an amazing stay. We dined at the onsite restaurant and our family enjoyed it very much. They were very accommodating to our young children.
The hotel room itself was top notch. The sleep number bed was very comfortable and the linens were also high end. The room had every amenity we could need. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly.
Look forward to the coming changes!!!

Room Tip: A lakeside room is a must.

We stay here every year. For the first time, we weren't in the round building, which we always like. The addition has more traditionally shaped rectangle rooms. We were given a very spacious suite. Nothing fancy, but it was great to have a fridge and sitting area. The beds are Sleep Comfort, so you adjust firmness to your liking. The fitness room is pretty basic, but there are 2 ellipticals, treadmills, and a bike, along with weights. The pool is always pretty warm, which I like, and there's a also a hot tub, and a sauna. I know people say it needs updating, but I think it looks pretty good.

We stayed here for a few nights for our 25th anniversary. We're so glad we chose this hotel. The staff was tremendously helpful and kind. The room was very nice. We really enjoyed the revolving restaurant at the top of the hotel. The location was within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to go.

I have stayed at some of the best hotels around the United States and the world. When I think of Radisson, a certain level of quality and excellence comes to mind. This property, while a "Radisson," is not a "Radisson." The staff are very friendly, but the hotel is old, the air in the hotel stinks, and the rooms are outdated and dirty. I cannot believe that Radisson would allow their name to be associated with a property like this. I checked into the hotel today, went up to the room, and then checked out--the same hour. There are better options elsewhere. This property should be SHUT DOWN until it is COMPLETELY renovated from top to bottom.

Thank you for your review. I would like to apologize for your recent stay with us. It is true we have started to show age. But we are recently under new ownership and management with a plan to begin a full renovation this fall. This will include updating everything from carpets to beds and windows to walls. I hope you will come visit once this is complete.

In Minnesota the Radisson name is an icon. For years it's meant quality, higher class accommodations, better than most other hotels. For our wedding night 33 years ago we stayed at a Radisson.

Over the years the Radisson name has lost it's luster. Visit a Radisson anywhere outside of Minnesota and the name means "used to be quality". While they attempt to rekindle their 30 year old reputation with their new Radisson Blu branding, the older hotels, like this one in Duluth, stuggle to keep their relevance.

What is sad is that we in Minnesota still hold to that old idea of quality when it comes to the Radisson name and they know it. That's why they're able to charge the extremely high nightly rates for a run down, old, 1982 hotel like the one in Duluth.

This weekend we had a very disappointing hotel experience staying here. It was like going back in time, except even 30 years ago we would have found this a bad experience.

The room was old. And old, outdated TV. An old phone. An old, worn "Sleep Number" bed who'd seen better days. Worn carpeting.

But more disturbing, the bugs around the window area. It was gross. Tons of them. Small little insects, most alive, many dead on the window sill.

For a rate of $250 one would expect a clean room with a flat screen TV, a refrigerator and a microwave. This had none of them. It was an $89 room, at best.

Sad to say, it seems they're attempting to live off the good will Minnesotans give the Radisson name when, in fact, this is probably one of the most tired properties in their entire chain. A Holiday Inn Express is a much better property at a lot less money.

I am hopeful they will realize, soon, that this hotel needs to be shut down and re-built from head to toe. Forgetting the fact it's a half block from a fire station (making it very noisy) and that they host a lot of events that fill rooms with kids (we had the worst night's sleep EVER with all the soccer kids Saturday night - doors banging half the night, kids hanging out and talking loudly for hours in the halls, and soccer parents being just as bad), I can't see ever willingly staying there again.

Stayed at this run down Hotel for a Friday night. What a waste of money for the price. Never again!! Carpets in hallway and elevator were soiled and from 80s. Coffee at front was like mud. The bed was satisfactory but nothing to write home about when spending over 200 bucks for this room!!

On behalf of the entire staff here at the Radisson Duluth-Harborview we apologize about the concerns you shared while staying here at the hotel. I have addressed the issues with our team and I assure you we are working diligently to ensure these issues do not happen again. We are currently under new ownership and management here at the hotel, and we have every intention of remodeling the entire property come this fall. It is unfortunate that the previous owners neglected such an iconic hotel for so long. However, the new owners are committed to restoring the property to what is considered to be Radisson standards.
