My husband travels weekly to Duluth for business. He has tried most of the hotels in Duluth and this is his favorite! He stayed in another hotel just a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe how much better the Canal Park Lodge is and he vowed to not shop around anymore.
My son (who is 2 years old) and I joined him during the past week and we had a blast! The Lodge in general is decorated very nicely (we all loved the "lodge" feel-- with my son very excited about the bears, moose, and fish on the walls) and the rooms are very clean, large, and have a luxury feel about them. The photos on the walls are a great finishing touch-- we love Craig Blacklock's photography.
The staff at Canal Park could not be more helpful. My husband often receives a deeply discounted rate on the room and everyone greeted us with a smile. It was especially nice to see how friendly they were with a toddler. In fact, we met many nice families during our stay and spent time in the pool with them. Speaking of the pool, the swimming is great. The pool area is comfortable and a nice place to hang out with other family members. We did all agree however that the pool was a bit chilly, but not too bad.
My son and I had a great time watching the ships and running down to the aerial bridge to see them come through. We ate lunch everyday at the Amazing Grace bakery and loved the sandwiches and soup. My husband and I enjoyed Angi's Cantina, but agreed that the margaritas were better than the food.
We will for sure be back to the Canal Park Lodge. In fact, my son wakes up every morning asking to go back!
