We were looking for a good breakfast in Duluth. The two places we used to go to have been torn down or are out of business. Tried a web search and Uncle Louis came up. From the reviews and descriptions we thought it would be worth while. Despite the warnings about hung over High School and College students, we decided what the heck. Now we did get there about 9:30 and we were seated right away, menu's and beverages were there very quickly.
We both ordered, I had eggs, country fried steak with sausage gravey, my friend had eggs & bacon, we both had hashbrowns and a pancake! I have to admit even for a basic breakfast it was very tasty. The hashbrowns were fresh, with a little crisp on them and did not taste like they were cooked in stale oil as so often happens at Perkins or Country Kitchen. The Pancake was HUGE!! It is the size of a dinner plate. Yes I know, my breakfast was not healty, but it certainly was good.
The coffe cup never was empty. There was a great selection of condiments on the table, several kinds of hot sauce, three kinds of syrup. The service was quick and friendly.
Would I recommend Uncle Louis, definitly. This is NOT gourmet by any means, but it was delicious, as close to home made as you can get in a restuarant and a great value. We will go back.
Oh as to the hung over students, they started showing up about 10:30 or so. We were surprised to see them as school is out. For the most part they were quiet and mostly female.
This is a good place for Grandma and Grandpa, a family or the kids. Worth the stop.
