“Gorgeous and Cozy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2012

We spent two nights at The Cotton Mansion early in the summer season. The home is in a lovely, historic neighborhood and within a nice walking distance of Lake Superior. This common rooms are large and have a number of smaller areas to gather so you can enjoy the space without feeling like you're intruding on other guests. The architectural details make perusing the home a treat. We stayed in a quiet room at the back of the house. We especially enjoyed being able to have a real fire in our fireplace! The hosts were accommodating and informative. Breakfast was delicious. We would definitely return.

“Fabulous! Can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

My husband and I have stayed at this B&B twice - in the Terrace Suite both times. It's a wonderful place to get away! For being in a neighborhood, it's incredibly QUIET. You'll have no idea that you're in Duluth, and not far from downtown at all. The food is served as fine dining and Kim and Ken did a wonderful job accomodating our vegetarian diets. The food was amazing! The Terrace Suite is such a grand room, but we've never actually used the terrace as we've only stayed in the winter months. This B&B is a wonderful place to spend some quiet time together with your spouse. As with other B&B's, the hosts are available around meal time and are just a phone call away if you need anything throughout the day. I would love for there to be coffee and munchies available more often.

Room Tip: Terrace Suite is amazing!! Next time I go, I plan to stay in the Bell Cotton Suite or the Carriage H...

“Beautiful But Lacking Hospitality”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

We travel alot and have had the good fortune to experience many Bed and Breakfasts across the U.S. This is a beautifully restored historic bed and breakfast. We would have loved to have heard the history but the college student who checked us in didn't know the history and the owners were nowhere to be found. 'Mystery wine' and crackers were set out for guests in the evening. The house was such a masterpiece but the B&B is lacking the most important features - warmth and hospitality.

“Work of art mansion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Cotton Mansion in one of the carriage house rooms. The restoration of the building is beyond description. Intricately carved woodwork, stained glass and grand rooms look as they might have looked originally. There are a number of rooms on the second floor of the main house, but we chose to stay in the carriage house. There was another room adjacent to ours in the carriage house but it didn't deminish our feeling of intimacy. The beautiful fireplace, privacy, whilrpool tub was truely an escape. The bathroom and bed were comfortable. There was even a small CD player with relaxing cds to play, a nice touch. A short walk over to the main house in the morning for breakfast was a bit brisk, but we didn't mind. We dined with the other couples staying there in the main dining room. Ken and Kim know how to serve a fine meal. The food, grand atmosphere and conversation was very memorable. We do like our privacy, but sharing the meal with strangers in such a glorious setting was actually very special. Thanks to Ken and Kim for your hard work of restoring and sharing this gem and creating a unique get away.

Room Tip: The main house has 4 or 5 rooms on the second level. They are arranged around the main very grand st...

“More Than Just Your Typical B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2011

We spent the weekend at the Cotton Mansion and had an absolutely fabulous stay! Ken and Kim were very gracious hosts and made us feel right at home. They provided us wonderful accommodations, delicious eats, and delightful entertainment. It was the perfect get-a-way during a busy, hectic Christmas season. We have stayed in other B&Bs, but no other experience can compare. I think my husband summed it up best. You can tour historic homes, but rarely do you have the opportunity to live and be part of one. It will be hard to go to any other B&Bs. Thank you Ken and Kim for a wonderful weekend!

Room Tip: All the rooms are amazingly beautiful so you can't go wrong with any of them; however, I loved s...
