“Great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is really such a nice view of the beautiful Lake Superior and the eastern part of the city. Not many birds to see at this time of the year but it's always a great view.

“Hidden Gem in Duluth, MN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Hawk's Ridge offers fantastic views! Not only can you see hawks in migration in the fall but the view from the 'old shoreline' of Lake Superior is breathtaking! If you continue along Hawk's Ridge along skyline drive you'll find Seven Bridges Road. If you continue along you will cross seven stone/cobblestone arch bridges crossing the Lester River. This road closes seasonally to cars as it becauses a cross country trail in the winter. Very beautiful from Memorial Day to Nov 1. There was some flood damage in the spring floods of 2012 so not all of the road was accessible by car but you could walk/hike the entire route.

“Birding paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

This observatory is a birders dream. The natural setting and the views along the pathways are an additional feature of the park. Bring your binoculars and spend an hour or two just enjoying the the local inhabitants and the peaceful setting.

“Fun addition to a beautiful afternoon along the North Shore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We stopped at Hawk Ridge in addition to hiking up Wolf Rock and around Gooseberry Falls. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of bird watchers, fellow nature admirers and hikers in the area. Hawk Ridge includes a large display explaining the migration of various types of birds and the most opportune months of the year to see each kind. A group of seemingly experienced watchers set up with tripods and binoculars were grouped on an elevated platform, perfect for bird watching and a large trailer was equipped with information and various items for sale. There were also a handful of individuals who were educating others on hawks and larger birds of prey. After spending about 20 minutes admiring the view and looking around (a short time, I know!) - we spotted an adorable (but large!) white-chested owl perched high atop a lone tree. While we didn't see any hawks at Hawk Ridge, it was a fun experience - we'll definitely visit again!
