“Perfect for a family trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

We stayed for two nights with two kids (7 and 4) in the family suite. The setup was terrific for us with a great view of the lake. Make sure to get on the second or third floor for better scenery. Room was clean, beds were very comfortable with soft sheets and downy comforters. The hallways were quiet and we didn't hear any other guests around. We used both pools and found the indoor one very chlorinated (bring goggles) but warm with big towels to use. There are rooms that overlook the pool, I would not want those as large groups of people congregated near the pool making it very noisy. The rooftop pool was very neat! Super warm and fun to use with the kids! The breakfast was awesome. A huge continental breakfast with exceptional staff. We didn't encounter one person who worked at the Inn that wasn't friendly. They consistently ensured our stay was pleasant. And location is perfect on Canal Park. This will be our family go-to for trips to Duluth.

Room Tip: Avoid the pool area and get above the first floor.

The Inn on Lake Superior is a wonderful place to stay. We were booked on Skyline Shuttle to the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, and this was a place for pick-up. Since we were scheduled for a 7:00 a.m. shuttle, we decided to stay there overnight. The free breakfast was great, and I especially liked the availability of a computer and printer so I could print out our boarding passes for our flight to Florida. We were near the pool, so there was some noise from the door, but it was quiet by the time we went to bed. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was great, and everything about the room was very nicely decorated. We will stay there again!

We stayed two nights recently in March for a quick break with our 5 and 10 year old children. The hotel offered an excellent value! When I called to make the reservation, the staff at the desk were attentive in describing the various room options available and were very pleasant while making the reservation. It set a wonderful tone for our entire visit and we weren't disappointed. The extra touches such as complimentary soda in the fridge and the nightly s'mores add to the overall value. The room was nicely appointed and the beds were super comfortable. My husband travels for a living and is very particular about beds and hotel rooms in general and this place exceeded his expectations. The breakfast offered in the morning again exceeded our expectations. The staff working with area were attentive and even brought out chocolate chips for our kids to put on their waffles (which they loved!). There were al ot of high school kids at the hotel while we were there for a conference and we were worried it would negatively affect our experience, but there was limited noise and the walls seemed well insulated so it did not disrupt our experience at all. We plan to come back this summer when we can enjoy even more of the amenities such as the outdoor pool and the bikes.

Room Tip: We booked a corner room. It had a king bed, a queen bed and a pullout sofa. The layout was perfect...

We greatly enjoyed our stay at The Inn on Lake Superior. You can not beat the location. The staff is very friendly. They offer you a lot at this hotel, not just a place to sleep.
We stayed in a King Jacuzzi Suite on the first floor. Although there was some noise from the hall, the room itself was very large and had it not been winter, we could have walked right out our deck to the river walk. Some highlights of this hotel: They have a rooftop pool, heated in the winter. Bring a robe if you can, because getting out of the pool in the winter is cold cold cold. They offer smores at night over a fire. The breakfast is large with lots of offerings.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room

I was here recently for a FIRST Robotics Competition, and let me tell you, this hotel is an amazing place! From walking in the door and seeing Lake Superior (which was frozen over at the time) at the other end of the lobby, you are immediately blown away. The amount of amenities this hotel offers is stunning. You get free water in the lobby, a heated rooftop pool open year round, an indoor pool w/ a whirlpool, free breakfast every morning AND free Smores every night? Sounds like a paradise to me. Not to mention that you have rooms that overlook Superior Bay, the city, and Lake Superior itself? Rooms are cozy and you will enjoy them. The hotel staff will give you anything if you ask for it as well! You need more shampoo, they'll give you more Shampoo! Don't forget that this place is in located in the dead center of the historic Canal Park, which is filled with Restaurants, Attractions, and is a hop, skip, and a jump from Downtown! At the end of this past weekend, I'd suggest The Inn on Lake Superior to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with Balconies that overlook the lake for an amazing view!

This is a first class run hotel. Rooms are great, pool is actually warm, and enjoyed s'mores for the first time in the winter. Breakfast is amazing and the staff is friendly. This is a great location, we will be back next time we are in the Duluth area.
