I have stayed in other hotels in Duluth before, but this was my first time at the Hampton Inn, after a friend recommended it. Comfortable pillows, breakfast is average for hotel breakfast; great Lakeview room with crashing waves the night we stayed. Room was suitable for the type of stay. I loved that you get to step out right into the pedestrian paths bordering the lake, a short walk to Fitgers Brewery and other attractions. We tried to ask for hiking and beach recommendations from the staff, but the staff didn't seem well informed, which is surprising in such a touristy part of town.
