We just spent 2 nights at the Residence Inn in Duluth and enjoyed our stay there. THe rooms were immaculate. We had the 2 room suite, complete with 2 rooms, 2 baths, a living room area, full kitchen and 3 flatscreens. The decor was awesome throughout the room, and very clean.
In the AM they offer a complimentary (warm) breakfast that included eggs, a breakfast meat, belgian waffle, cereal, fruit, yogurt, muffins/breads, juices, potatoes, and then some entree (one day it was sausage biscuits, another it was Eggs florentine).
While we didn't take advantage of the service, if you bring the front desk a grocery list, they will do your shopping for you (at no additional charge). Conveniently, Cub Foods grocery store is located next door, but it's not an overly convenient walk (hillside and rocks in the way).
The hotel is not located in canal park, so you have to drive down to the waterfront. Parking in the waterfront was inexpensive, just $.50/half hour.
The pool was standard, but the kids enjoyed it (there's a small hottub as well). Outside in a nice seating area is a firepit (gas), which we were able to roast marshmellows for smores.
I have a difficult time sleeping with extraneous noise, and was pleased that the hotel was quiet during our stay. Only a couple occassions could we hear anyone upstairs, but it was infrequent and not loud at all.
We would stay here again.
